Latest Update: Maruti Baleno now has a new competition in the premium hatchback segment in the form of Tata Altroz Racer. The Altroz Racer is the performance version of the regular Altroz. Apart from Baleno, its main rivals are the Boosterjet powered Maruti Fronx, the Hyundai i20 & i20 N-Line.

Introduction
Amongst all the hatchbacks available in the Maruti lineup, the Baleno is the most premium one. Moreover, Maruti sells it under the NEXA dealership for a premium retail experience.
Exterior & Design
In the front, it gets NEXA tri element DRLs that come integrated into the headlamp assembly. The headlamp assembly comes with a bi functional LED projector setup. The front bumper gets LED fog lamps and a slim lower air dam with horizontal slats.
In the rear too, the tri element design is integrated into the tail lamp assembly and there's a thick chrome garnish below the rear windshield which connects the two tail lamps.
Interior & Features
Maruti Baleno is one of the most feature and tech loaded vehicle in the premium hatchback segment. It comes with features like a 9 inch touchscreen infotainment, wireless android auto/apple car play, auto dimming IRVM, tilt and telescopic steering, Heads Up Display, 360 degree view camera, etc.
For safety, Maruti offers up to 6 airbags, ISOFIX mounts, ESP, traction control, hill hold, etc.
Engine & Transmission
Baleno comes with just one engine option i.e. a 1.2 litre 4 cylinder naturally aspirated petrol which can be paired with either a 5 speed manual or a 5 speed AMT gearbox. The engine produces 90 PS of power and 113 Nm of torque. Moreover, Maruti also offers the option for a factory fitted CNG. The CNG version produces 77.5 PS of power and 98.5 Nm of torque in CNG mode.

It measures 3990 mm in length, 1745 mm in width, 1500 mm in height and 2520 mm in wheelbase.
Variants & Colours
It comes in 7 colour options and 4 variant options. Among the 4 variants i.e. Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha, only the Delta, Zeta and Alpha offer AMT transmission. The base Sigma variant can only be opted with manual gearbox. Moreover, only the Delta and Zeta variants offer CNG option, the top end Alpha variant only comes with the petrol engine.
