Ather 450S

Ather launched 450 S in order to combat the recent EV price hikes due to the governmental policy changes in EV subsidy. But Ather did not compromised the design and aesthetics of 450 S. The signature sharp and edgy design of the fascia with a pointed posture is the same as the other 450 models offered by Ather. Additionally, that V-shaped headlamp makes this scooter look aggressively sharp from the front. Do not forget the peak-like front fender which complements its pin-pointed depiction from the front.

Moreover, the turn indicators integrated into the handlebar cover also look sharp with its edgy lines, which gives the scooter a premium look. Further from the sides, this scooter looks slightly compact. Additionally, the branding and the seat frame's eye-catching splash of color add to the scooter's overall stylish appearance. Sharp lines may also be seen on the back, and the grab rail gives the overall appearance some weight. 

Speaking of the available color options, Ather provides the 450S in four different shades: Cosmic Black, Salt Green, Still White, and Space Grey.

Moving to the features, the 450 S comes equipped with an all-new instrument cluster. It is not the full TFT colour display that you can see on the 450X model. It is referred to as the Deepview display and has the same size as the TFT 7-inch panel. Additionally, when it comes to the specifications, they can be lesser in some aspects such as the 800 MHz processor, 8 GB of storage, and 1 GB of RAM. There are restrictions on the brightness feature as well. Nevertheless, this console maintains its IP65 rating, indicating that it would withstand the rainy season well. 

The overall appearance of the console is wonderful. The layout and UI are also neat and clean, font colours have been chosen wisely. As a result, you can get a premium feel for this affordable scooter. When it comes to the details inside the console, they are quite descriptive which a normal rider can find stuffed in daily use scenerio.

The 450 S is also capable of taking you to unknown destinations via its intuitive turn-by-turn navigation, which you can power with your smartphone through the Ather’s mobile application. You also can have real-time access to your calls and notification alerts, along with the music control just like other models.

In addition to the instrument cluster, the switchgear has been modified to include an additional switch for forward or backward motion. This feature adds user-friendliness and practicality to the overall experience. Lastly, the remaining switches for other functions like indicators, lights, ignition, etc also are fine in design and accessibility.

The pro model of the Ather 450S has more features than the standard variant such as coasting regeneration, hill hold assist, guide me home lightings, emergency stop signal, fall safe, etc.
These features are taken from the 450 X, but the 450 S lacks the Wrap Mode - a signature feature by Ather. Moreover, the other riding modes including Smart Eco, Eco, and Ride Mode provide a range of 75 km, and Sport Mode offers a total range of 70 km.

The 450S is powered by a 5.4kW motor which is paired with a 2.9kWh battery. With this configuration, this scooter can reach a top speed of 90kmph, with a maximum range of 90 km on a single charge. You can charge this scooter from 0-100% in eight hours and thirty-six minutes.

When it comes to performance, this scooter’s acceleration may slightly drop in Ride and Eco Modes. However, this issue is reported by only a few people. Furthermore, the Sport mode will not disappoint you if you love speed and thrill, but this mode is suitable for those who ride for only 15-20 km a day. Nonetheless, if you want to ride with comfort and ease, the Eco and Ride mode would be perfect.

Ather scooters are popularly known for their sharp and reliable handling. These scooters set the standard for thrilling and enjoyable handling, and the 450S is no exception. You can swiftly navigate through the most congested traffic with this e-scooter because it is quite easy to ride and maneuver. Even if you ride this scooter aggressively, you can predict and control it with ease on sharp cuts or even on tight streets. However, when it comes to the suspension, it will not disappoint you over these kinds of harsh rides over rugged streets, considerably better with a pillion.

The 450S electric scooter stands on a mono-shock at the rear and telescopic forks at the front. Additionally, the front and back tires are 90/90 wrapped around the 12-inch wheels. Braking management is done by 200mm front and 190mm rear discs. However, CBS does a good job, but this scooter would have been much better with ABS. Nonetheless, the throttle calibration is to the point that will make the predictability even better. But this scooter does not seem comfortable for tall riders because of its down-fixed handlebars which interfere with the knees on turns.
