Latest Update
Ather 450 Apex is the newest and most powerful electric scooter from Ather Energy, a Bangalore-based startup. It was launched on January 6, 2024, with some of the new updated features in the 450 series of Ather, as a limited-run model with only 450 units available for booking.
Introduction
It is based on the 450 platform, which also includes the 450X and the 450 Plus models. However, the 450 Apex has some unique features that set it apart from its siblings. It has a more powerful electric motor that delivers 8 kW of peak power and 26 Nm of torque, resulting in a 0-40 km/h acceleration time of 2.9 seconds and a top speed of 90 km/h . It also has a new Warp+ mode that unlocks a new dimension of warping on the touchscreen dashboard.
Variant and Color
The Ather 450 Apex is available in only one variant, which comes with a bundle of accessories including a handcrafted helmet, TPMS, patch, neckgaiter and key chain. The scooter is offered in two color options: Stark Orange and Indium Blue. The former is a bright orange shade that contrasts with the transparent panels, while the latter is a deep blue hue with a hint of red.
Top Speed and Acceleration
The Ather 450 Apex has a top speed of 90 km/h, which is higher than the 80 km/h of the 450X and the 70 km/h of the 450 Plus. It also has a faster acceleration time of 0-40 km/h in 2.9 seconds, compared to the 3.3 seconds of the 450X and the 3.9 seconds of the 450 Plus .
The scooter has four riding modes: Eco, Ride, Sport and Warp+. The Warp+ mode is exclusive to the 450 Apex and it enhances the performance and responsiveness of the scooter.
Battery Capacity & Range
It has a battery capacity of 3.7 kWh, which is the same as the other models in the 450 platform. However, due to its higher power output, it has a slightly lower range than the others. The scooter has a certified range of 150 km, which translates to a TrueRange® of 110 km in real-world conditions. The battery pack is covered by Ather Battery Protect™ for five years or 60,000 km, whichever comes first.
Charging Time
This electric scooter can be charged using either the home charger or the public fast charger network called Ather Grid. The home charger can charge the scooter from 0 to 100% in about 5 hours and 45 minutes, while the fast charger can charge it from 0 to 80% in about an hour. The scooter also supports regenerative braking, which recovers some energy when braking or coasting.
Features
The Ather 450 Apex has several features that make it a smart and connected scooter. It has a 7-inch touchscreen dashboard that displays various information such as speed, battery level, range, navigation, etc. It also has Google Maps integration for turn-by-turn navigation and live traffic updates.
The dashboard can be customized with different themes and widgets according to the user's preference. The scooter also has Bluetooth connectivity for pairing with smartphones and receiving calls and music controls on the handlebar. Other features include LED headlights and tail lights, side stand sensor, reverse assist, cruise control and single-channel ABS.
Height & Weight
The Ather 450 Apex has a height of 1250 mm, which is slightly lower than the other models in the platform. It also has a weight of 118 kg (with battery), which is slightly heavier than the others. The scooter has a wheelbase of 1278 mm and a ground clearance of 160 mm. It has an under-seat storage capacity of 22 liters.
Rivals
It faces competition from other electric scooters in the market such as Ola S1 Pro, Simple One, Bajaj Chetak Premium and TVS iQube. However, none of these rivals can match the performance and design of the Ather 450 Apex, which makes it a unique and premium offering in the segment.
