Introduction
MG Hector is a front wheel drive mid size SUV that is sold in Indonesia as Wuling Almaz, in China as Baojun 530 and in Thailand & Mexico as Chevrolet Captiva. It was first launched in India in 2019 and received its first facelift update in Jan 2023 during the auto expo.
Exterior and Design
On the design front, Hector comes with the bold looking front design with a massive grille embedded with diagonally placed square elements. Moreover, the dual barrel headlamps get projector LED units along with LED front fog lamps. The DRLs of the Hector also get dynamic swipe function for turn indicators.
Interior and Features
MG Hector gets a plethora of first and best in segment features like a 14 inch HD Portrait touchscreen infotainment system with Wi-Fi connectivity, 7 inch fully digital instrument cluster, 75+ connected car features, panoramic sunroof, 8 colour ambient mood lighting, digital Bluetooth key with key sharing function, proximity lock unlock, auto powered tailgate etc.
For safety, MG has equipped the Hector with level 2 ADAS, front and rear LED fog lamps, front and rear parking sensors, all 4 disc brakes, 6 airbags, HD 360 degree camera, auto dimming IRVM etc.
Engine and Transmission
Hector comes in 2 engine options i.e. a 1.5 litre turbo petrol and a 2 litre turbo diesel. Petrol engine produces 143 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque and comes paired with a 6 speed manual gearbox or a CVT auto. The diesel engine produces 170 PS of power and 350 Nm of torque and comes paired to only a 6 speed manual transmission.
