Key Highlights
Exterior & Design
The Basalt Vision is the new SUV Coupe from the French carmaker Citroen. With a sloping roof line that seamlessly integrates the rear windshield and the boot lid, the Basalt Vision comes across as a unique looking SUV in the mid size segment.
With a large lower air dam, upright bonnet, projector headlamps, and DRLs that seamlessly integrate with the upper grille and the Citroen logo, its front design extremely resembles the Citroen C3 Aircross.
In the rear, it gets a notchback design with gloss black cladding in the lower bumper and a silver skid plate. Moreover, looking at the rear it seems like the the Coupe SUV will offer a full opening hatch instead of the conventional sedan like boot lid. Although the brand images show a 19 or 20 inch alloy, we expect a 17 or 18 inch one in the final production version.
Interior & Features
Although Citroen has only revealed the exterior images of the Basalt Vision, we expect it to come with a similar interior to that of C3 Aircross. This means it will most likely come with a 10.25 inch touchscreen infotainment, wireless android auto/apple carplay, a 7 inch digital instrument cluster, TPMS, etc.
Being a more premium model than C3 Aircross, we expect Citroen to equip the Basalt Vision with features like auto climate control AC, auto dimming IRVM, electrically fold and adjust ORVMs, adjustable steering and driver seat, etc. However, it is likely to miss out on a sunroof.
Engine & Transmission
We expect Citroen to offer the same 1.2 litre 3 cylinder turbocharged petrol engine in the Basalt Vision too. In C3 Aircross, this engine produces 110 PS of power, with 190 Nm of torque in the manual gearbox variants and 205 Nm of torque in the automatic transmission variants. In Basalt Vision too, we expect the same power and torque outputs. However, Citroen might also offer a second engine option with the coupe SUV.
Segment & Rivals
Likely to be placed in the mid size SUV segment, the new Citroen Basalt Vision Coupe SUV will most likely compete with rivals like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, upcoming Tata Curvv/Azura Coupe SUV and Citroen's own C3 Aircross.
Expected Launch & Price
Expected to launch in India later this year, we expect Citroen to place the Basalt Vision in the price range of Rs 10 lakh to Rs 16 lakh (ex-showroom).
