Mahindra has added Blazing Bronze, which is also offered on the XUV300 TurboSport, and Everest White, bringing the total number of exterior colour options for the Thar to six. Only the hard-top option will be offered for the Thar 4x2 model.
By posting the latest version of the SUV's brochure online, Mahindra has made information on the Thar RWD variants available
Although it lacks the 4x4 insignia on the rear fender, the 2WD Thar is otherwise aesthetically identical to the 4WD variant. In addition, Mahindra has added Blazing Bronze, which is also offered on the XUV300 TurboSport, and Everest White, bringing the total number of exterior colour options for the Thar to six. Only the hard-top option will be offered for the Thar 4x2 model.
The central console's 4x4 selector lever is replaced with a cubby hole inside the RWD model. Additionally, it has an auto-start/stop feature that is operated by a control panel located next to the driver's right knee.
The 1.5-liter turbo-diesel engine from the XUV300, which produces 118.5hp and 300Nm of torque, is also included in the Thar RWD's new powertrain. This engine can only be paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. On the other hand, the 2.2-liter turbo-diesel engine that produces 132 horsepower and 300 Nm will remain in the 4WD Thar. The 2.0-liter petrol engine with 152 horsepower and 300 Nm (320 Nm with an automated gearbox) will also be available in the 2WD variant, and it will be paired with either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission.
For both the 1.5 diesel and 2.0 petrol powertrains, the Thar also offers a lower-spec AX Optional trim in addition to the rear-wheel drive system. According to our sources, this trim was not previously offered with the Thar but has since been secretly added.
