Mahindra & Mahindra has partnered with Charge+Zone, a tech-driven EV charging network company, to establish a charging network for the former's upcoming electric SUV lineup. According to the automaker, Charge+Zone will establish a network of over 2,500 charging points across 25 cities and 10,000 kilometres of highway by the end of the current fiscal year (March 2023).

Charge+Zone and Mahindra will investigate the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of fast DC chargers at various locations as part of their collaboration. including owned and rented sites, offices, and any other locations designated by Mahindra, its affiliates, and group companies.

According to Kartikey Hariyani, Founder and CEO of Charge+Zone, "Charge+Zone believes in the vision of clean mobility, a better environment, and a greener planet, as evidenced by our partnership with Mahindra and Mahindra. These collaborations allow us to broaden our vision of EV accessibility for all. With this collaboration, we hope to create a well-connected ecosystem that will not only provide Electric SUV owners with access to fast charging points across the country, but will also aid in the growth of the EV ecosystem."

Mahindra & Mahindra's President - Automotive Sector, Veejay Nakra, stated, "Our collaboration with Charge+Zone will ensure that all of our customers have access to reliable EV infrastructure. We are excited to collaborate with them on our upcoming range of electric vehicles in India, including the soon-to-be-launched XUV400 EV, and look forward to bringing sustainable, profitable, and efficient EV solutions to accelerate the mass adoption of battery electric vehicles in India."

Mahindra and Charge+Zone will also provide e-mobility solutions in the future, including discovery, availability, navigation, and transactions, all with the goal of enabling EV users to easily access the charging network. The upcoming charging network is intended specifically for electric four-wheelers, but it will also be available to the general public. These will be rapid DC charging points that use the CCS2 charging protocol to charge 80-100 percent in 20-30 minutes.

A full charge will take about an hour, depending on the size of the EV's battery. The charging stations will be located near other amenities such as food courts, restaurants, hotels, and other establishments that provide Type-2 AC chargers.

Charge+Zone plans to build a network of over one million charging stations to serve both fleet and retail customers. The company currently has over 1,450 charging points spread across 650 EV charging stations and serves approximately 5,000 electric vehicles daily.

In addition, the company completed the electrification of over 1,000 kilometres of national highways in the country. This includes constructing a network of 20 unmanned, app-controlled, superfast EV charging stations along the Gujarat-Maharashtra National Highway.
