Honda is Planning to Launch new SUV by 2023 in India

Honda Cars India is preparing to relaunch its business with a new SUV lineup and an expanded sales network. The automaker has stated that its new SUV will be available for purchase sometime next year. Takuya Tsumura, President and CEO of Honda Cars India, stated to an online media site that the company had a difficult three years due to its global shift toward electric mobility and revamping its facilities and operations.

Now, the Japanese carmaker is preparing to relaunch its market with new models in the popular SUV class. Tsumura has also stated that Honda's new SUV model will be available next year, helping to boost sales. At the moment, the company's primary focus is on increasing the use of its production capacity at its Rajasthan-based facility. The next-generation Honda SUV has completed its development phase and will soon enter full production. The corporation will make some final modifications before that.

While no names or facts about the incoming new Honda SUV have been published, it is expected to be a mid-size or sub-4 metre SUV. According to sources, the new Honda subcompact SUV will take some design cues from the Honda RS SUV concept, which debuted at the 2022 GIIAS. It will serve as the Amaze's basis and may be equipped with the 1.5L i-VTEC petrol engine (121PS/145Nm). A 6-speed manual transmission and a CVT automatic transmission are possible options.

Honda will compete in the mid-size SUV segment with vehicles such as the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. The model's powertrain could be shared with the City Hybrid, which has a 1.5L, 4-cylinder Atkinson Cycel with two electric motors. The next Honda SUV will be about 4.3 metres long.
