Latest Update
The Royal Enfield Constellation is likely to be a cruiser bike based on the same twin-cylinder platform as the Interceptor and Continental GT 650.
Introduction
It is a new name that the manufacturer has trademarked recently. The Constellation used to be a bike that Royal Enfield had built for the American market in the 1960s, with a 700cc parallel-twin engine. The new Constellation could be a modern reinterpretation of the classic cruiser, with retro styling and modern features.
Variant and Color
It is expected to come in only one variant, STD, with an estimated price of Rs. 3.50 Lakh. The color options are not yet revealed, but we can expect some classic shades like black, red, blue and green.
Engine and Power
It is likely to use the same 648cc air-cooled parallel-twin engine that powers the Interceptor and Continental GT 650. This engine produces 47.6 PS of power and 52 Nm of torque, and is mated to a six-speed gearbox with slipper clutch. The Constellation could have a different tuning or gearing to suit its cruiser character.
Fuel Efficiency and Tank Capacity
The fuel efficiency and tank capacity of the Royal Enfield Constellation are not yet known, but we can assume that they will be similar to the Interceptor and Continental GT 650, which have a claimed mileage of 25.93 kmpl and a fuel tank of 13.7 liters.
Features
This motorcycle could come with features like LED headlight and tail light, digital-analog instrument cluster, dual-channel ABS, alloy wheels, tubeless tires, front and rear disc brakes, telescopic front forks and twin rear shock absorbers. The bike could also have some chrome accents and leather seats to enhance its retro appeal.
Wheel Size and Weight
The wheel size and weight of the Royal Enfield Constellation are not yet disclosed, but we can expect them to be similar to the Interceptor and Continental GT 650, which have 18-inch wheels at both ends and a kerb weight of 202 kg.
Rivals
Constellation could face competition from other cruiser bikes in the same price range, such as the Honda H'ness CB350, Jawa Perak, Benelli Imperiale 400 and Bajaj Dominar 400.
