The Royal Enfield Classic 650 is a new 650cc cruiser from Royal Enfield, inspired by the Classic 350. It has a retro-style design, a simple instrument cluster, and a parallel-twin engine from the Super Meteor 650. Spy shots reveal its features, underpinnings, and launch date.
Introduction
It is a motorcycle that pays homage to the iconic Classic 350, which has been a favorite among retro cruiser fans around the world. The Classic 650 aims to offer the same charm and character of the Classic 350, but with more power and performance from the 649cc twin-cylinder engine.
Variant and Color
It is expected to be available in two variants: Standard and Chrome. The Standard variant will have a single-tone paint scheme, while the Chrome variant will have a dual-tone paint scheme with chrome accents. The color options are likely to be similar to the Classic 350, such as Black, Gunmetal Grey, Signals Stormrider Sand, Signals Airborne Blue, etc.
Engine and Power
The Royal Enfield Classic 650 will share the same engine as the Interceptor 650, Continental GT 650, and Super Meteor 650. It is a 649cc, air/oil-cooled, parallel-twin motor that produces 47bhp of power and 52 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch. The engine may have some minor tweaks to suit the Classic's character.
Fuel Efficiency and Tank Capacity
The fuel efficiency and tank capacity of this bike are not yet revealed, but they are expected to be similar to the other 650cc models from RE. The Interceptor 650 has a claimed fuel efficiency of 25.5 kmpl and a tank capacity of 13.7 litres. The Super Meteor 650 has a claimed fuel efficiency of 26 kmpl and a tank capacity of 15 litres.
Features
It will have a simple and minimalist feature list, in line with its retro theme. It will have an analog speedometer and odometer, an LED headlamp with a chrome bezel and a small cap, round turn indicators, a teardrop-shaped fuel tank with a Monza-style cap, split seats with springs, a pea-shooter exhaust, and steel spoke wheels. It will also have dual-channel ABS as standard.
Wheel Size and Weight
It will have an old-school wheel setup, with steel spoke wheels at both ends. The wheel size is likely to be 18-inch for both front and rear wheels, unlike the Super Meteor 650 which has a larger 19-inch front wheel.
The tire size is also expected to be similar to the Interceptor 650, which has a 100/90-18 front tire and a 130/70-18 rear tire. The weight of the Classic 650 is not yet known, but it may be slightly lighter than the Super Meteor 650 which weighs over 530 pounds.
