Toyota halts bookings for Innova HyCross ZX and ZX(O) hybrids due to high demand, with no specified reopening date.
Toyota Motor has once again paused bookings for the top-end variants of the Innova HyCross MPV. The ZX and ZX(O) variants, which come with a strong hybrid powertrain, are currently unavailable for booking. This suspension comes just three months after Toyota had resumed the booking process for these models.
In April last year, Toyota also halted bookings for these variants due to high demand. The current pause is temporary, but Toyota has not specified when the bookings will reopen.
The ZX and ZX(O) variants of the Toyota Innova HyCross are priced at ₹30.30 lakh and ₹30.98 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively. Both variants are powered by a 2.0-litre petrol engine paired with a strong hybrid powertrain. This hybrid system is the same as the one used in the hybrid version of the Urban Cruiser HyRyder SUV. The Innova HyCross is also available with the same petrol engine without the hybrid technology, with prices starting from ₹19.77 lakh (ex-showroom).
Toyota has not provided a specific reason for the current halt in bookings. However, the Innova HyCross has the longest waiting period among all Toyota vehicles. Depending on the region, the waiting period for the strong hybrid version can extend beyond a year. In contrast, the petrol-only versions have a shorter waiting period of around six months.
This decision to halt bookings comes shortly after the Uttar Pradesh government announced a complete waiver of registration tax for hybrid vehicles in the state. This policy is seen as beneficial for carmakers like Toyota, which offers hybrid and plug-in hybrid vehicles in India. The tax waiver has reduced the price of the Innova HyCross by up to ₹3 lakh.
The top-end ZX and ZX(O) variants of the Innova HyCross are loaded with features. These include:
The strong hybrid powertrain and extensive features make these variants highly sought after, contributing to the high demand and subsequent booking pauses.
