Maruti retained the top 4 spots in the top 20 selling cars in India in the month of October 2022. Maruti Alto retained its position as India's No.1 Selling Car in October 2022. It was much ahead of its brother Wagon R and held the top spot.

In October 2022, the Top 20 Selling Cars accounted for over 76% of all vehicles sold. Maruti had 9 models, Hyundai had 4, Tata had 3 models, Kia with 2 models , and Mahindra with 2 models. Maruti Suzuki vehicles accounted for more than 48 percent of the Top 20 in terms of volume!

Maruti Alto retained its position as India's No.1 Selling Car in October 2022. It was much ahead of its brother Wagon R and held the top spot. Nexon remains the best-selling SUV and the fifth-best-selling automobile in October'22. Maruti Grand Vitara has entered the Top 20 at number 16 and has delivered over 8000 units in the second month of its introduction! The Korean twins (Creta & Seltos) maintained a significantly larger lead, with sales of 11.8k and 9.7k units, respectively.

Top 20 Selling Cars YoY Growth

• Among the top 5, Maruti Suzuki, the largest automobile brand in India, stood strong and even with the changing perspective towards SUVs and MUVs, Maruti has retained 4 top spots with their budget hatchback models. Alto, WagonR, Swift and Baleno were the top 4 most selling cars in India in the month of October-22.

• Hatchbacks accounted for 90,254 units of sales in India.

• Tata Nexon on the other hand still remains the top selling SUV. Note that among the top 20 cars in India currently, 9 cars are actually from the SUV segment. This means Indians are more inclined towards this segment, and it would be no surprise to see more SUVs to come in the top 20 list in the upcoming months.

• In SUV segment, Nexon was followed by Creta, Punch, Vitara Brezza, Seltos, Venue, grand Vitara, Sonet, and Scorpio. SUVs accounted for 89,036 units of sale in India.

• Maruti Dzire remained the only sedan to feature in top 20 list.

• 2 MUVs, Maruti Ertiga and Mahindra Bolero stand at 10th and 16th spot respectively and accounted for 19,266 unit sales in India.
