Tesla is planning to double their operation time from May 16th onwards. They will work in two shifts to recover the losses they had faced during the lockdown that was implemented in Shanghai, China due to rising Covid cases.
Tesla has plans to double their production by running two shifts at its Shanghai Gigafactory from May 16. This decision came after the loss in production that Tesla had to face during the three-week lockdown in China’s financial capital Shanghai due to rising covid cases.
The news broke out when an internal memo was seen by reporters from Reuters and hence this would enable the U.S based Electric Car manufacturer to bring the production back to the levels before the city’s lockdown. The Shanghai plant of Tesla faced three-week lockdown, its first since the pandemic started out in 2019 and therefore made a huge dent in the production output of Tesla.
Tesla also lost a huge amount of revenue due to the lockdown in Shanghai’s gigafactory and hence this decision can help them to recover the loss it had faced in those months. The U.S carmaker plans to produce 2,600 electric cars from Shanghai plant per day from then, the memo stated.
Meanwhile, Elon Musk has been a little busy in his own endeavours with Twitter. He will go on to buy Twitter in a $44 billion deal wherein he has already started fund raising for the same. According to reports he will take on as temporary CEO of Twitter after the deal is done successfully.
Tesla has not yet responded to requests of Reuters to comment on this report.
