Tata Tiago EV has been launched by Tata Motors at an introductory price of Rs. 8.49 Lakhs. The car has become the most affordable EV in India and also the first hatchback EV of Tata Motors.
The Tata Tiago EV has been introduced in India with prices starting at Rs 8.49 lakh (ex-showroom), making it the country's most affordable four-wheeler EV. Tata's first electric hatchback will be available in four trim levels: XE, XT, XZ+, and XZ+ Tech, and will sit below the Tigor EV in the brand's lineup. Bookings for the Tata Tiago EV hatchback will begin on October 1, with delivery beginning in January.
Tata's Ziptron high-voltage design, which employs a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor, powers the Tiago EV. Tata says that the Tiago EV has a 0-60kph time of 5.7 seconds.
Its 24kWh lithium-ion battery pack and electric motor are dust and water-resistant, with an IP67 designation. It also includes a 19.2kWh battery with an estimated MIDC range of 250km. The Tiago EV is also capable of quick charging, with a DC fast charger allowing it to be charged from 10% to 80% in just 57 minutes. Tata provides an 8-year/160,000-kilometer guarantee on the battery and motor.
The Tiago EV has a 315km MIDC-rated range, which is 9km longer than the Tigor EV's 306km range (ARAI certified).
The Tiago EV is designed similarly to the Tiago ICE, which underwent a makeover in 2020. To distinguish it as an EV, it has electric blue accents on the exterior and blue highlights inside the headlights.
The inside is substantially identical to that of the ICE Tiago. However, like the Tigor EV, Tata has given the Tiago EV blue highlights on the interior to distinguish it from the petrol-powered variant. The gear lever has also been replaced with a rotary dial for selecting the drive mode, which includes a Sports mode.
The Tiago EV comes with automatic temperature control, rain-sensing wipers, automated headlights, push-button start/stop, and cruise control. The electric hatchback is equipped with ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, a rear parking camera, and a seat belt reminder. It also has multi-mode regen braking, which was previously seen on the Nexon EV Max.
As previously stated, the Tiago EV is Tata's first electric hatchback and India's most affordable four-wheeler EV. It is less expensive than the Tata Tigor EV and presently has no direct competitors.
