Ola Electric announces plans to install 100 hyper chargers in 50 locations in a major Indian city to ease range anxiety among its electric scooter customers.
With the convenience of these new charging stations, Ola Electric hopes to encourage more people to switch to electric mobility.
As of now, these hyper chargers are free to use for all Ola S1 and S1 Pro customers. Despite not providing a timeline for the installation process, Ola Electric has been on an aggressive expansion spree, and it is expected that the hyper charger stations will start popping up across the city in the upcoming weeks.
Bengaluru, being the home turf of Ola Electric, makes perfect sense for the company to expand its fast-charging network in the city. The Ola hyper charger station offers DC fast charging, allowing for a range of 50 km in just 15 minutes of charging, and up to 70 per cent state of charge.
The Move OS 3 platform allows users to locate a hyper charger easily via the S1 electric scooter's digital console, while the Ola app provides real-time updates on the charging status of the scooter on the user's phone.
With a customer base of over two lakh electric two-wheeler owners across India, Ola Electric must be prepared to provide a robust charging network to support its customers' charging needs.
By expanding its hyper charger network, Ola Electric is not only making charging more convenient for its existing customers but also setting an example for other electric vehicle manufacturers to follow suit.
Ola Electric's new hyper charger stations in Bengaluru will only be accessible to S1 and S1 Pro customers, with S1 Air owners restricted to AC charging. The decision to limit hyper charging to the higher-end models is likely due to cost considerations, as providing fast-charging infrastructure can be expensive.
In addition to the hyper charger network, Ola Electric is also providing its customers with portable chargers for slower charging. S1 and S1 Pro owners will receive a 750-watt portable charger, while S1 Air owners will receive a 500-watt portable charger.
While slow charging may take longer, it is still a viable option for many users, especially those who do not require a full charge in a hurry or who do not have access to fast-charging infrastructure.
