OEM-wise Car Sales Figures for February 2023 are out. Maruti has grabbed the top spot once again, meanwhile Tata, Hyundai and Mahindra follows.

In February 2023, Maruti Suzuki sold a total of 1,72,321 units. This comprises 1,55,114 units sold domestically, 17,207 units exported, and 4,291 units sold to other Manufacturers.
In February 2022, the company sold 1,64,056 units, including 1,40,035 domestic sales, 24,021 exports, and 2,428 sales to other OEMs. Domestic passenger vehicle sales increased 10% year on year.
Recently, the brand also launched the 2023 Ignis at a starting price of Rs 5.82 lakh. The updated model now gets a BS6 Phase 2 and RDE norms-compliant engine along with additional safety features across all its variants.
Moreover, Maruti Suzuki also achieved the milestone of selling 10 lakh units of Eeco in India since its launch in 2010. It has become the highest-selling van in the country and currently dominates the segment with a market share of 94 per cent.
The manufacturer is also working on updating its fleet with the new BS6 Phase 2 compliant engines. Soon, all the models will come with newly updated engines.
Tata Motors has released its monthly sales figures for February 2023. The brand increased its monthly sales by 2.5 percent year on year, selling 79,705 pieces. In comparison, the carmaker sold 77,733 vehicles in the same month last year.
In terms of commercial vehicles, the Indian automaker sold 36,565 units, while passenger cars, including EVs, sold 43,140 units. If we remove exports, the overall domestic sales figure was 42,862 units. This is a 7% increase over the 39,981 units sold in February 2022.
Tata managed to sell 5,318 units of electric vehicles in February 2023. This is an increase of 81% over the same month last year, when the brand sold 2,934 EVs.
In other developments, Tata recently introduced the Red Dark Edition to their SUV portfolio, which also includes the Safari, Harrier, and Nexon.
In February 2023, Hyundai had domestic sales of 47,001 vehicles in India. The brand increased its sales by 6.7% year on year to 44,050 units in February 2022. Furthermore, the auto maker exported 10,850 vehicles last month, amounting to a total sales of 57,851 units.
Although the brand outsold its previous year's domestic record on a yearly basis, when comparing month-to-month figures, Hyundai had a 6.2 percent dip, selling 50,106 units in January 2023. Hyundai now boasts strong sales statistics with the Creta SUV, which sold more than 15,000 units in January 2023, its biggest domestic sales ever.
To bolster its presence even more, the Korean carmaker plans to introduce the new 2023 Verna in India. In other news, Hyundai just introduced the Alcazar 2023 in India. The three-row Vehicle now has an RDE-compliant engine and other safety measures.

In February 2023, Mahindra sold over 30,000 SUVs. UV categories have grown by 9.74 percent. Mahindra's February 2023 sales report shows a consistent growth trend. In terms of sales, there was an increase of 2,695 units sold from February 2022 to February 2023, up from 27,663 units.
Altogether, 30,358 PV units were sold. Let's look at the data more closely. With 30,221 units sold in February 2023, utility vehicles (UVs) continue to dominate. This is an almost 10% increase over the 27,551 units sold in February 2022. Nevertheless, vehicle and van sales increased, with 137 units sold compared to 112 units sold in February 2022.
Kia India expects to sell 24,600 units in February 2023. With this, the firm achieved one of its biggest year-on-year growth rates, amounting to 35.8 percent, as compared to the 18,121 units sold in the same month previous year.
The Kia Sonet was the brand's biggest contributor last month, accounting for 9,836 units sold, followed by the Seltos, which sold 8,012 units. The Carens, on the other hand, sold 6,248 units, while the Carnival added 504 units to Kia India's February sales results.
