Volkswagen India has announced the arrival of their upcoming car Volkswagen Virtus which will be taking its place in the mid-sized sedan segment in the Indian market
Volkswagen India has announced the arrival of their upcoming car which will be taking its place in the mid-sized sedan segment in the Indian market. The car which will likely be named Volkswagen Virtus and its awaited unveiling will be on March 8. The German automobile company has set its eye on the mid-size sedan segment which is already pretty competitive with popular cars like Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Skoda Rapid.
Similar to Volkswagen Taigun SUV launched last year which was based on the MQB AO IN platform, the new Volkswgen Virtus will also be sharing the same platform and will take the place of their current sedan Volkswagen Vento which has completed 12 years in this segment.
Ergonomically, the upcoming VW Virtus facelift sedan is reported to be more stretched version of the Volkswagen Vento. The new mid-size sedan will be more spacious with lots of leg room and cabin space. Some other features of the cars include all LED lighting, DRLs, chrome grille bar on the front.
To tackle the mid-sized Sedan segment the Volkswagen may feature a similar but more evolved engine specifications we have seen in the Volkswagen Taigun since both are based on the same platform, we can expect a 1.5-litre 4 cylinder TSI unit and a 1.0-litre TSI 3-cylinder engine. Gear transmission can be a manual and automatic 6 speed unit.
The New Volkswagen Virtus price will start from Rs.9-10 lakh and will compete with the likes of Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Skoda Rapid. Launch of Volkswagen Virtus Facelift will be on March 2022. Since there has been a fall in the sales of the mid-sized Sedans in India due to major reasons like Covid-19 pandemic and introduction of Electric Cars in the market, it is going to be a tough market for the Volkswagen Virtus and other cars in this segment.
