Bangalore International Airport has launched the first phase of the metaverse "BLR Metaport". The T2 will be among the first terminals to be accessible in the metaverse.
Highlights
The first phase of the "BLR Metaport" has been launched by Bangalore International Airport Ltd. (BIAL), the company that runs Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport (BLR Airport).
According to a press statement from BLR Airport, T2 will be among the first terminals to be accessible in the metaverse. Visit www.blrmetaport.com to access it and take a virtual tour of the new terminal.
BLR Metaport, which was developed in association with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Polygon, will provide a three-dimensional, immersive virtual experience of the recently opened Terminal 2.
'We are really thrilled that BIAL is going into the new realm of Metaverse through the BLR Metaport,' stated Satyaki Raghunath, Chief Strategy and Development Officer for BIAL. With this initial venture into the Web3 and non-fungible tokens (NFT) space, we hope to wow travelers with a distinctive, virtual experience. We consider it crucial to establish a metaverse connection with a new generation of our worldwide audience.
The BLR Metaport, one of the first airport metaverse experiences, aims to provide travelers with a better online experience. Customers will have unique airport experiences thanks to the 3D interface, including the ability to check into flights, navigate terminals, shop, and engage socially with other travelers.
The Metaport, which is based on the AWS platform, makes use of its computing, storage, databases, and data visualization capabilities to achieve high performance and scalability. "The BLR Metaport is testimony to how customers can leverage AWS to build innovative, engaging, and immersive metaverse experiences, while benefiting from some of the fundamental advantages offered by the cloud - agility, low latency, scalability, and cost-efficiency," said Kanishka Agiwal, Head of Service Lines for Public Sector in India and South Asia, AISPL.
The Polygon Blockchain, which will serve as a digital economy medium in the future for users to trade digital assets conveniently and securely, is used by the BLR Metaport. BLR Metaport is an illustration of how major corporations can work together and innovate to make blockchain solutions accessible to all, according to Arpit Sharma, Head, APAC, Polygon. These digital assets, according to BLR Airport, might include collectibles, utility and commemorative NFTs, digital artwork at the BLR Metaport, certificates for passing various industry-related training courses, and digital artwork.
Users will be able to shop from their favorite companies from anywhere in the world in the future thanks to BLR Metaport. The BLR Metaport also provides video conferencing, texting, spatial audio, and avatar creation.
