Mahindra has expanded its Scorpio N lineup with the introduction of the Z8 Select variant, positioned between the Z6 and Z8 trims. The new variant comes with attractive pricing and a range of features, making it a compelling option for SUV enthusiasts.

Pricing and Availability:

The Z8 Select variant starts at an enticing price of Rs 16.99 lakh, making it more affordable by up to Rs 1.66 lakh than the next-in-line Z8 trim. Mahindra plans to make the Z8 Select available from March 1, 2024, offering a versatile choice for buyers.

Distinctive Features:

  • Exclusively offered in the Midnight Black shade, borrowed from the XUV700.
  • Retains the Z8 trim's LED lighting and black-brown cabin aesthetics.
  • Equipped with Z8 features, including a sunroof, a 7-inch digital driver display, and six airbags.

Engine Options:

The Z8 Select variant offers both 2-litre petrol and 2.2-litre diesel powertrains, available with manual and automatic transmissions. Notably, the 4WD option is not available for this variant, providing a range of choices to cater to different preferences.

Design and Exterior Updates:

Cabin and Features:

Inside, the Z8 Select maintains the Z8's black and brown cabin theme with leatherette upholstery, offering a comfortable 7-seater layout. While it shares many amenities with the Z8, some features like dual-zone AC, push-button start/stop, and auto-headlights are omitted in the Z8 Select.

Safety and Technology:

The safety kit of the Z8 Select includes electronic stability control (ESC), six airbags, and ISOFIX child seat anchorages. The vehicle also boasts an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, and connected car technology.

  • 2.2-litre Diesel: 175 PS power, 400 Nm torque, 6-speed MT/6-speed AT.

Competitive Pricing and Rivals:

With a price range between Rs 13.60 lakh and Rs 24.54 lakh, the Mahindra Scorpio N competes with monocoque SUVs like Tata Harrier/Safari and higher-spec variants of compact SUVs such as Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. It also serves as an off-road-capable alternative to the Mahindra XUV700 in the brand's SUV lineup.

CarBike360 Says

Mahindra's latest addition, the Scorpio N Z8 Select variant, fills the gap between Z6 and Z8 trims, offering affordability and a robust feature set. With its stylish design, versatile engine options, and safety features, the Z8 Select strengthens the Scorpio N lineup, providing consumers with a compelling mid-range SUV option.
