JSW MG Motor India, one of India’s leading car manufacturers, has reported a highly successful sales performance for November 2024. With a total of 6,019 wholesale units sold last month, the company continues to strengthen its position in the competitive automobile market.
This figure represents a remarkable year-on-year (YoY) growth of 44.90% compared to 4,154 units sold in November 2023, translating into a significant volume gain of 1,865 units. However, on a month-on-month (MoM) basis, sales declined by 14.56% compared to October 2024, when 7,045 units were sold. This decline marks a volume loss of 1,026 units over the previous month.
Metric | November 2024 | October 2024 | November 2023 | YoY Change (%) | MoM Change (%) |
Total Sales (Units) | 6,019 | 7,045 | 4,154 | +44.90% | -14.56% |
Windsor EV Sales (Units) | 3,144 | 3,116 | - | - | +0.90% |
The Windsor EV, a flagship product for JSW MG Motor, retained its title as the company’s top-selling model for the second consecutive month. In November 2024, the Windsor EV recorded sales of 3,144 units, accounting for a substantial 52.23% share of MG’s total sales. This intelligent crossover utility vehicle (CUV) has established itself as a popular choice among buyers, demonstrating consistent demand. Sales of the Windsor EV saw a modest MoM growth of 0.9%, rising from 3,116 units sold in October 2024. This performance reflects MG Motor's robust production capabilities and the growing acceptance of electric vehicles (EVs) in the Indian market.
Vehicle Category | November 2024 Sales | Percentage of Total Sales (%) |
NEVs | 4,214 | 70 |
ICE Vehicles | 1,805 | 30 |
A deeper analysis of the company’s sales data reveals its strong commitment to promoting electric mobility. Approximately 70% of JSW MG Motor India’s total sales in November 2024 came from its New Energy Vehicle (NEV) portfolio, which includes fully electric and electrified models like the ZS EV, Comet EV, and the Windsor EV.
This translates to 4,214 units of NEVs sold last month. Meanwhile, traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles, such as the Hector, Hector Plus, Gloster, and Astor, contributed the remaining 30% of sales, amounting to 1,805 units. This strong performance by NEVs highlights MG Motor's strategic shift toward sustainable mobility solutions and its alignment with global automotive trends.
Vehicle | November 2024 Sales | Contribution to NEV Sales (%) |
Windsor EV | 3,144 | 74.57 |
ZS EV | Approx. 700 | 16.61 |
Comet EV | Approx. 370 | 8.82 |
Breaking down the NEV portfolio, the Windsor EV alone accounted for 74.57% of the company’s total NEV sales in November 2024. Other key contributors were the ZS EV and the Comet EV, which collectively accounted for approximately 25% of NEV sales, with estimated figures of 700 units and 370 units, respectively. This distribution reflects the growing consumer preference for electric models across different segments, driven by MG Motor’s innovative strategies such as Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS). By significantly reducing the high upfront costs associated with EV ownership, these strategies have attracted a wider customer base and contributed to the rising adoption of electric vehicles.
Despite a slight MoM decline in overall sales, JSW MG Motor India’s consistent YoY growth and dominance in the NEV market underscore its resilience and market adaptability. With products like the Windsor EV leading the charge, the company is poised to further solidify its leadership in the Indian EV segment. Innovative approaches to pricing, coupled with a clear focus on sustainability, ensure that MG Motor remains a key player in shaping the future of mobility in India. As the brand continues to expand its portfolio and enhance its value propositions, it is well-positioned to maintain its upward trajectory in the coming months.
