India's EV Mission on Track: One in every 10 petrol Pump now has CNG, EV Charging Facilities have these Options

To increase the use of renewable energy, one out of every ten petrol pumps in India now has an electric vehicle (EV) charging station or a CNG filling station. According to an ET report, India has approximately 84,600 fuel retail outlets, of which 8,900 offer alternative fuels such as CNG, auto LPG, or EV charging facilities.

The EV charging station is available at 4,100 pumps, while the CNG station is available at 4,000 pumps.

Meanwhile talking to ET, an industry expert and executive said, "India is witnessing a larger trend of liquid fuel stations turning into energy stations where a customer has the choice of ordering petrol, diesel, natural gas, or electrons as per his needs. It brings convenience to customers. It also helps oil companies guard their future profits."

Several Indian oil retailers, including Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum, and Hindustan Petroleum, have entered the natural gas business and are acquiring licenses to serve the gas in large parts of the country.

These state-owned retailers sell CNG in areas where they do not have natural gas licenses. In India, today there are approximately 4,700 CNG retail outlets, up from 1,270 five years ago. According to various surveys, the figure will surpass 10,000 in seven years.

Indian Oil, BPCL, and HPCL also intend to install EV charging stations at 22,000 of their gas stations over the next few years.
