Hyundai Motor Company has finally unveiled the Hyundai Ioniq 6. Hyundai is aggressively trying to accelerate the transition to electrification and position itself as a global leader in the EV industry.
The Hyundai Ioniq 6 electric sedan or the Hyundai Ioniq 6 Electrified Streamliner as the South Korean automotive giant refers to it, has finally been unveiled by Hyundai Motor Company. The Ioniq 6 is the next ambitious step in Hyundai Motor's strategy to accelerate its transition to electrification and into a position as a global leader in EVs, according to Jaehoon Chang, President & CEO of Hyundai Motor Company, who made the statement at the digital unveiling of the electric vehicle. The new Hyundai Ioniq 6 electric sedan joins the Hyundai Ioniq 5 electric crossover as the company's second electric vehicle.
The Ioniq 6 electric sedan from Hyundai is expected to go into production in the third quarter of 2022, with a market debut planned for the following year.
The Hyundai Ioniq 6 electric sedan, which continues to build on the quirky appearance we saw on the Hyundai Ioniq 5 electric crossover, is the result of close collaboration between engineers and designers, according to SangYup Lee, Head of Hyundai Design Center. He said, “He says, “Ioniq 6 connects an emotional convergence of functionality with aesthetics. The distinctive streamlined design is the result of close cooperation between engineers and designers, with obsessive attention to detail and customer-centric values at the core. We have created the Ioniq 6 as a mindful cocoon that offers personalized places for all.”
The electric Hyundai Ioniq 6 sedan utilizes E-GMP to deliver a staggering 2,950 mm wheelbase, which is supported by a selection of 20-inch or 18-inch wheels. Hyundai Ioniq 6 electric sedan's 1,880 mm width and 1,495 mm height give it a distinctly elegant and fashionable appearance while having an overall length of 4,855 mm. Various drive motors and battery packs are available for the Hyundai Ioniq 6 electric vehicle. Rear-wheel drive (RWD) or all-wheel drive (AWD) electric motor configurations can be paired with a long-range 77.4 kWh battery (AWD).
The top-of-the-line dual motor arrangement is an AWD option with a combined power output of 322 bhp and 605 Nm of torque. This setup can reach 0 kph to 100 kph in 5.1 seconds. The energy usage of the 53 kWh standard battery is anticipated to be under 14 kWh/100 km, making it the market's most energy-efficient vehicle under WLTP. The Hyundai Ioniq 6 electric automobile can charge from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes using a 350 kW charger.
The four-door Hyundai Ioniq 6 electric car has a commanding appearance thanks to its swooping fastback design, low, rounded stance, tapered roofline, and squared-off bumpers all of which contribute to its 0.21 drag coefficient. The digital headlights, taillights, and angular bumper inserts are stylish Parametric Pixel embellishments. The profile resembles a 911 with a touch of Cadillac thrown in to grab attention. With a nearly identical spoiler located just below the rear window, the rear strongly resembles the Porsche Taycan. Twelve exterior colors for the Hyundai Ioniq 6 electric sedan are offered: Gravity Gold Matte, Abyss Black Pearl, Serenity White Pearl, Curated Silver Metallic, Nocturne Gray Metallic, Nocturne Gray Matte, Transmission Blue Pearl, Biophilic Blue Pearl, Ultimate Red Metallic, Digital Green Pearl, Digital Green Matte, and Byte Blue.
The Hyundai Ioniq 6 electric sedan's interior adopts a minimalistic style and has a beautifully organized, clutter-free, touch-based interior. You receive a modular touchscreen dashboard with a 12-inch digital cluster and a 12-inch full-touch infotainment display. The infotainment system in the electric sedan offers real-time travel radius mapping based on the battery's level of charge, and the connected car services offered by the system assist in finding and planning the optimum route that includes a charging station along the way. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are included as standard features, while Bluetooth multi-connection capability is also available. Eight speakers, including a subwoofer, are distributed throughout the car as part of the high-end Bose sound system. Bluelink Infotainment/Map updates are included with the navigation system. There are four colors available for the interior: Black with Pale Brown, Dark Olive Green with Light Gray, and Dark Gray.
