Global NCAP raises alarms on safety ratings for Mahindra, Kia, and Honda. Get insights on how these brands fare in terms of vehicle safety.

Global NCAP Expresses Concern Over Safety Ratings for Mahindra, Kia and Honda

Key Highlights:

  • GNCAP expresses disappointment over Bolero one-star safety rating.
  • Despite six airbags as standard, Kia Carens' safety rating raises concerns.
  • Honda's failure to update safety features leads to a disappointing safety score.

In a recent statement, Alejandro Furas, the Secretary General of Global NCAP, voiced disappointment over the safety ratings of several popular car models. Furas highlighted specific concerns regarding the safety performance of vehicles manufactured by Mahindra, Kia, and Honda.

First on the list was Mahindra's Bolero Neo, which received a mere one-star rating. Furas expressed that this rating was well below the safety standards expected from the manufacturer, indicating a significant gap in safety performance.

Moving on to Kia, Furas noted an improvement in the safety rating of the Carens model compared to a previous test. However, despite being equipped with six airbags as standard, the retest did not meet expectations. This discrepancy raised questions about the overall safety performance of the Carens model.

Lastly, Furas expressed regret over Honda's failure to enhance the safety features of the Amaze model, which subsequently led to a disappointing safety score. This missed opportunity to update safety features on the Amaze was identified as a contributing factor to its subpar rating.

The statements made by Alejandro Furas underscore the critical importance of prioritising safety in vehicle design and manufacturing. As consumers increasingly demand safer automobiles, manufacturers are urged to invest more in safety technologies to ensure the well-being of drivers and passengers alike.
