2023 Hyundai Sonata Unveils Refreshed Look in Facelifted Model

Hyundai has revealed official pictures of the revamped Sonata, intended for overseas markets only. The vehicle has undergone a complete redesign both inside and out, bearing a resemblance to the luxurious Grandeur flagship sedan and the recently launched Verna in India. The updated Sonata will make its debut at the Seoul Mobility Show on March 30.

The armrest extends into the centre console, creating a spacious cabin.

The 2023 Hyundai Sonata has undergone significant changes in exterior design compared to its 2019 predecessor. The front end features a full-width LED Daytime Running Lamp bar, split LED headlamp setup, and angular extensions on the grille. It maintains its four-door coupe body style with a strong shoulder line running from the fender to the tail lamps.

The rear of the Sonata now features a spoiler-shaped boot lid that seamlessly blends into an all-black panel housing the tail lamps and a full-width LED lightbar. The N Line version includes black wing mirrors, 19-inch alloy wheels, N Line badging, and a quad exhaust setup. Hyundai has emphasized the Sonata's aerodynamic design to enhance fuel efficiency and stability.

Hyundai Sonata Facelift Boasts Advanced Technology

Hyundai has not yet disclosed the powertrain specifics for the facelifted Sonata, but the previous model offered various petrol powertrain options, including a plug-in hybrid variant. The outgoing N Line Sonata featured a 2.5-litre turbocharged engine paired with an 8-speed DCT gearbox, generating 290 horsepower and 422 Nm of torque. The new Sonata facelift and N Line model will likely retain similar powertrain options as the previous model.

Hyundai Sonata in India

Hyundai introduced the Sonata in India in 2001 to compete with the Honda Accord. The Indian market saw three generations of the Sonata, with the second generation arriving in 2005 and receiving a facelift in 2009. The third generation, featuring Hyundai's fluidic design, was launched in 2012 but was later discontinued in 2015 due to decreasing sales of D-segment sedans.
