Introduction
This new model occupies a niche between the brand’s C-Class and E-Class Cabriolet models, effectively replacing the previously discontinued variants in this segment. The latest convertible arrives in India as a fully imported model, available exclusively in the AMG Line trim.
Design and Platform
The new CLE Cabriolet is based on the Modular Rear Architecture (MRA) platform, shared with the recently launched C-Class and the upcoming next-generation E-Class. Compared to the C-Class sedan, the CLE Cabriolet features a longer overall length and borrows styling cues from both the C-Class and E-Class models.
Key Design Elements
- Grille and Nose: A larger grille with a shark-nose effect
- Bonnet and Roof: A long bonnet and a soft-top fabric roof that folds into the boot
- AMG Line Trim: Sportier touches, including more pronounced bumpers with larger air intakes and new alloy wheel designs
Engine and Performance
The 2024 Mercedes-Benz CLE Cabriolet is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system. This powertrain generates 254 bhp and 400 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 9-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
Performance Statistics
- Acceleration: 0 to 100 kmph in 6.6 seconds
- Top Speed: 250 kmph
Interior and Features
The cabin of the CLE Cabriolet borrows heavily from the C-Class, featuring a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an 11.9-inch vertically-stacked infotainment system. The model offers a four-seater (2+2) layout and is the first cabriolet from Mercedes-Benz to feature separate head airbags for rear passengers.
Additional Features
Soft-Top Roof: The red soft-top roof can be opened or closed at up to 60 kmph and in the shortest duration of 20 seconds.
