Petrol prices have crossed the mark of Rs.100 in major cities like Jaipur, Mumbai and Pune. However, the option of CNG is always open and it's a worthy one as well. The factory fitted CNG kits are well optimised in terms of power and economy as well as shape to fit in a good amount of luggage in the boot.
Let’s see which are are best available options in Hatchback, sedan and MPV categories. 1. Maruti Suzuki CelerioCelerio CNG has been a successful car. The CNG variant is very economical compared to the petrol only version. It comes with a 1.0-litre petrol engine that churns out 57PS of power along with 78Nm of torque.
In terms of mileage, it returns 30.5km/kg with CNG compared to 21.7kmpl on petrol. The prices of the same ranges between Rs. 5.85 lakhs to Rs. 5.90 lakhs ex-showroom.
2. Hyundai AuraHyundai Aura came as a successor of Hyundai Xcent which was mostly used in fleet operations. It gets a 1.2-litre petrol engine with different states of tuning for CNG and petrol. With CNG it generates 69PS of power with 95Nm of torque. Hyundai Aura lets you get upto 28km/kg of mileage compared to 19kmpl with petrol. Out of the 5 variants, Aura is available with CNG only in the S variant which retails for Rs. 7.56 lakhs ex-showroom. 3. Maruti Suzuki ErtigaMaruti Suzuki Ertiga is one of the most preferred MPV in India and has a long waiting period as well. It gets a 1.5-litre petrol engine which is good for 91PS of power and 122Nm of torque. For frequent travellers and fleet service providers, Ertiga comes up as an ideal choice.
Ertiga CNG is available with VXI trim only which is priced at Rs. 9.36 lakhs ex-showroom. It returns a mileage of 26.08km/kg which is better than its petrol only variant by 8 units.
