Volvo announces the global debut of the XC90 facelift on September 4, featuring a hybrid powertrain as the company shifts focus from EVs amid slowing sales.

Volvo XC90 facelift Debut Set for September 4

Volvo is about to unveil its premium SUV Volvo XC90, a hybrid ev. It was announced in a teaser where the global debut date of September 4th is confirmed. This car will be available in hybrid powertrain that shows Volvo is focusing on hybrid technology as they were making electric ones. Well it’s quite reasonable to shift their focus towards hybrids as the sales in western countries are increasing while electric sales are going down.

Although the details on its specifications and designs have not been revealed yet. But it is expected that it would carry the same design as the Volvo EX90 Electric. Many people think that OEMs cannot sustain the EV market even in countries like the US and China Hybrid sales are going up.

On this, CEO Jim Rowan has stated that people are not able to embrace EVs yet and it will take time to adapt them, so in the meanwhile we can go for the Hybrid powertrain of other ICE models.

Upcoming Volvo XC90 Redesign

Exterior

The new Volvo XC90 will adopt a design language similar to the EX90 electric SUV.
A teaser reveals a more sculpted hood, indicating a significant exterior redesign.
This marks the first major design overhaul for the XC90 since 2015.
Headlights will see subtle changes but will retain the iconic Thor’s hammer motif, now integrated into the new bonnet and front fascia.

Interior

The facelift will bring a more refined and upmarket cabin design.
Expect the use of higher-quality materials and upgraded technology.
New infotainment and instrument cluster systems, likely borrowed from the EX90, are anticipated.
The SUV may also feature advanced LiDAR technology, following in the footsteps of its electric sibling.

Powertrain

Specific details about the powertrain are yet to be disclosed.
It remains unclear whether the XC90 will adopt a mild hybrid system or plug-in hybrid technology.

Launch Event

Volvo has announced a significant presentation on September 4, dubbed "90/90 Day."
The event will focus on the EX90 launch and may include surprise unveilings, hinting at potentially unannounced developments.
