Hero MotoCorp

Hero MotoCorp once again showcased its stronghold in the domestic market, selling 5,13,296 units in April 2024. The company witnessed impressive YoY growth of 32.91% and positive MoM growth of 11.77%. This performance confirms Hero's position as a market leader.

Hero MotoCorp's wide product portfolio includes bike and scooters, based on diverse consumer preferences, and an expansive distribution network, must be considered as the prime factors driving positive and impressive sales for the company. Moreover, exclusive as well as inclusive marketing strategies has helped Hero to maintain consumer interest.

While Hero MotoCorp has witnessed impressive growth, the brand still faces fierce competition from other major two-wheeler manufacturers. To sustain its top position, Hero must focus on new innovations, product differentiation, and prioritise customer engagement.

Honda

Honda showcased impressive performance in the domestic market, its sales reached 4,81,046 units in April 2024. The company recorded an outstanding YoY growth of 42.20% as well as MoM growth of 34.31%. Honda's sales growth this time has recorded more than the industry average.

Honda's Activa scooter, CB Shine, and Dio emerged as top sellers, serving and providing mobility facilities to diverse segments of the market. These popular models, known for their reliability and quality have contributed majorly to Honda’s sales success.

Honda's focus on product innovation, customer-centric plans, and aggressive marketing strategies played a pivotal role in driving sales growth. Honda's efforts to expand its dealership network and improvise after-sales services further helped in creating a strong market presence.

TVS Motor

TVS Motor reported commendable domestic sales performance, with 3,01,449 units sold in April 2024. The company witnessed strong YoY growth of 29.40% and healthy MoM growth of 15.71%. TVS Motor's sales growth reflects its ability to cater to evolving consumer preferences and maintain competitive pricing.

TVS Motor's focus on innovation and product differentiation has been a key driver of its sales success. The company's diverse product portfolio, including motorcycles, scooters, and performance-oriented bikes, appeals to a wide range of consumers. Whether it is sports bike oriented enthusiast seeking for Apache series or eco-friendly mobility seeker of iQube, or a beginner learning to ride a scooter like Jupiter, TVS indeed has engraved its presence among all ranges of customers.

TVS Motor's efforts to expand its market share through strategic partnerships, product launches, and targeted marketing initiatives have paid well. The company's commitment to sustainability and technological advancement further enhances its brand appeal.

Bajaj Auto

Bajaj Auto showcased strong performance both in the domestic and export markets. With 2,16,950 units sold domestically and 1,24,839 units exported in April 2024, the company demonstrated resilience and market adaptability.

Bajaj Auto's diverse product portfolio, including motorcycles, scooters, and three-wheelers, caters to a wide spectrum of consumers both domestically and internationally. The company's focus on innovation and affordability has helped it maintain a competitive edge in the market. Moreover, Bajaj has been updating its Pulsar line up, which actually helps the brand to showcase remarkable sales growth since the beginning of 2024. Recently, Bajaj has launched the all new Pulsar NS400Z globally, claimed by the company as the biggest pulsar ever. With such a big launch, we can expect to witness Bajaj leading the monthly sales performance in the upcoming months.

Bajaj Auto's extensive global reach and strong presence in export markets contribute significantly to its overall sales performance. The company's ability to adapt to changing market dynamics and capitalise on emerging opportunities underscores its strategic prowess.

Suzuki

Suzuki reported positive sales growth in both domestic and export markets, with 88,067 units sold domestically and 11,310 units exported in April 2024. While the company faced challenges in the export market, its domestic sales performance remained robust.

Suzuki's focus on premium segment motorcycles and scooters, such as the Suzuki Gixxer and Access 125, has offered consumers seeking style, performance, and reliability. However, the company needs to address market-specific challenges to sustain growth in export markets. Moreover with the recent launch in its Big Bike segment of V-Strom 800 DE, and celebrating 25 years of Hayabusa with the launch of a limited edition for the same, Suzuki is making sure to cater to a wider range of customers.

Suzuki's initiatives to expand its dealership network, enhance product offerings, and strengthen brand visibility are crucial for sustaining momentum in both domestic and export markets. The company's focus on customer-centric initiatives and after sales services is essential for enhancing brand loyalty and market share. The legacy of Suzuki has also played a pivotal role in positioning it as one of the top trusted two-wheeler manufacturers in India.

Royal Enfield

Royal Enfield reported moderate sales growth in both domestic and export markets, with 75,038 units sold domestically and 6,832 units exported in April 2024. While the company experienced positive YoY growth, its MoM growth was comparatively lower.

Royal Enfield's classic and retro-styled motorcycles, particularly the RE 350cc range, continue to be its mainstay products. However, the company can look forward to diversifying its product portfolio and appeal to a broader consumer base to sustain long-term growth. We have also got to know about the upcoming new updates and additions in RE’s 350 segment portfolio, with the launch of Classic Bobber 350 and Classic Scram 440.

Royal Enfield faces intensifying competition in the mid-size motorcycle segment, both domestically and internationally. To maintain its market position and drive sales growth, the company must focus on product innovation, brand differentiation, and market-specific strategies tailored to diverse consumer preferences. One such initiative has already been taken by Royal Enfield, by opening its Rental and Tour Services worldwide, making RE portfolio more accessible to customers and enthusiasts.

CarBike360 Says

The two-wheeler industry in India has showcased outstanding sales performance in April 2024, with both domestic and export markets witnessing significant growth. While Hero and Honda led domestic sales, Bajaj Auto emerged as the top exporter. We can say, the impressive performance by the industry will promise a positive trajectory for the future.
