Toyota Motor India has launched its second Hybrid car, the Toyota Innova Hycross. The company is looking for expansion in this new EV market.
Toyota Motor Corp launched its second hybrid car “Toyota Innova Hycross” on Friday in India. It is a seven-seater vehicle and their main aim is to focus on the new electric vehicle upcoming market to increase their sales.
The Innova HyCross builds on the popularity of Toyota's hybrid sport-utility vehicle (SUV), Urban Cruiser HyRyder, which went on sale in September. Toyota already sells a hybrid version of the well-liked multi-purpose vehicle in India.
At the press unveiling car event in Mumbai, the Chief Engineer, Hideki Mizuka said that they are very confident about the newly emerging technology of eco-friendly vehicles and want to expand it more”. The world's largest automaker by sales has come under fire from green investors for shifting more of its product lineup to the battery- and all-electric vehicles (BEVs).
However, the manufacturer asserts that it must provide a range of options and that hybrids make more sense in markets where infrastructure is not yet ready for BEVs. India wants automakers to produce more electric vehicle types, but demand for such cars has been weak thus far, and only Tata produces them locally.
While a mild hybrid simply uses technology to complement a combustion engine to reduce pollution, a full hybrid can be driven for extended periods of time on electric power. Mild hybrids, on the other hand, are significantly less expensive and have smaller batteries.
Toyota and its partner Suzuki Motor Corp intend to produce hybrid vehicles in India for domestic consumption as well as export to areas like Africa, where this technology is most appropriate. The vigorous EV drive by domestic rivals Mahindra & Mahindra and Tata Motors coincides with the hybrid effort as well.
Innova Hycfross is a Self-charging electric hybrid technology and a sophisticated petrol engine. The newest 2.0L TNGA petrol engine and the most cutting-edge 5th Generation Self-charging Hybrid Electric Technology power the new Innova HyCross.
This improved engine raises the bar for both performance and fuel economy. With cutting-edge connected features like Remote Vehicle Ignition, Smartwatch Connectivity, Stolen Vehicle Tracker, Find My Car, Remote Windows, Trunk Close, and others, convenience is taken to a new level with HY. Give yourself the ability to manage practically all aspects of the vehicle.
