Top 5 Upcoming Electric Cars: The Indian EV market is registering unprecedented growth presently. Some of the major Indian automakers introduced their top-notch EV products last year and some of them are scheduled to make their Indian debut this year. If you are the one who is planning to buy an electric car this year, you must wait for these breathtaking mass-market EVs that will be introduced in the Indian market in 2024. Check out the list below. 

Skoda Enyaq

  • Expected Launch Period: Later 2024

Skoda Enyaq is scheduled to launch in India this year. It will be the first EV car in the automaker’s portfolio. Speculations are rife that the Skoda Enyaq will offer great performance with an affordable price tag. 

Skoda Enyaq will come to India via CBU (Completely Built Unit) in the initial phase. However, based on the customer response and sales matrix, the company might shift to the CKD route later. The E-SUV will offer some top-of-the-notch features such as a 360-degree camera, rear parking sensor and self-park features. 

The electric SUV is expected to come with a dual-motor setup. The company is also expected to keep a single-motor option on offer which will be a more affordable one. The upcoming Skoda EV will reportedly offer a range between 400 km to 500 km. 

Kia EV9

  • Expected Price: Rs. 70 lakh to 90 lakh
  • Expected Launch: Late 2024 or Early 2025

Kia Motors has already confirmed that it will introduce the successor of the Kia EV6 in India by late 2024. Yes, we are talking about the Kia EV9. 

Kia EV9 will be a three-row E-SUV. The company is expected to offer two seating options for the upcoming EV, one of which will be a 7-seater and another will have a seating capacity for 6 persons. The upcoming EV is expected to come equipped with a dual-motor all-wheel drive and a single-motor RWD setup as well. 

The Kia EV9 derives the E-GMP platform from its predecessor Kia EV6. With the same structure,  the Kia EV9 is expected to offer a range of around 500 km on a solitary charge. Additionally, the E-SUV will expectedly get a 150 kW DC fast charging, ADAS suite, radar and LiDAR. 

Tata Curvv EV (Azura)

  • Expected Price: 20 lakh to 25 lakh (ex-showroom)
  • Expected Launch Timeline: Late 2024

Tata Curvv has been spotted multiple times on Indian roads. Tata Curvv will be on offer with both EV and ICE powertrains. The upcoming  EV will be based on Tata’s new acti.ev platform which is the same platform that the company earlier used for the Punch EV. 

The Curvv EV will offer features such as Alexa integration, connected car technology and OTA update capabilities. One special thing about the Curvv EV is that it will not come with any hump in the rear cabin. 

Curvv will be India’s first mass-market EV with a coupe design. Once launched, the Curvv EV will compete with the likes of the Hyundai Kona electric, including the MG ZS EV and Mahindra BE.05. 

Tata Harrier EV

  • Expected Launch Timeline: Later 2024

Tata Harrier EV will be India’s first EV SUV with an all-wheel-drive setup. The Tata Harrier will get a dual-motor setup on each axle. Despite being an electric car, the Harrier EV will get excellent off-roading capabilities similar to its ICE variant. 

Tata Harrier EV is expected to provide an excellent range of more than 500 km on a solitary charge. The Harrier EV will be also based on Tata’s new acti.ev architecture similar to the Punch and Curvv EV. 

The Harrier EV will offer excellent features such as V2V, V2L charging, OTA update capabilities, connected car technology and integrated Alexa. 

Mahindra XUV.e8

  • Expected Price: Rs. 35 lakh to 40 lakh 
  • Expected Launch Timeline: Later 2024

The Mahindra XUV.e8 is expected to make its India debut in late 2024 or early 2025. The XUV.e8 is essentially an electrified version of the Mahindra’s flagship XUV700. The E-SUV will come with significantly upgraded interiors and EV-specific elements. 

The electric SUV will come with features like three 10.25-inch displays when compared to the two displays in the XUV700, one as an infotainment system, one as an instrument cluster and the third one for the co-driver. 

As far as the features are concerned, the Mahindra XUV.e8 will offer features such as a Level 2 ADAS tech, advanced features and OTA updates. 

The E-SUV will be on offer in single-motor rear-wheel drive and dual-motor AWD configurations. After making its India debut, the XUV,e8 will rival the BYD Atto 3, Hyundai IONIQ 5 and Tata Harrier EV.
