Here are the Top 10 best selling cars in India in January 2022. Read for full details.
Maruti Suzuki continued to reign supreme in the sales charts despite the current sales slump in the auto market. India’s largest car maker-Maruti Suzuki had 6 models in the best selling cars for the month of January 2022.
The Maruti Suzuki Wagon R retained its crown of the top selling car ahead of its sister car the Maruti Suzuki Swift.
Here are the Top 10 selling Indian cars in January 2022:
Maruti Suzuki Wagon R
Maruti Wagon R, continued to show its strength in the sales chart and remained the best-selling Indian car in January 2022 with a 18% increase in YOY sales against the same period in January 2021. The Wagon R registered sales of 20,334 units against 17,615 units in January 2021. The Wagon R sales also increased on MOM sales as it registered positive growth of 3% as compared to December 2021 when only 19,729 units were sold. The Maruti Suzuki Wagon R ex-showroom prices are between Rs. 5.16 lakhs to Rs. 6.57 lakhs, with both petrol and CNG variants available.
Maruti Suzuki Swift
The Swift remains one of Maruti’s best-selling cars in India as the company sold 19,108 units sold last month as compared to the 15,661 in December 2021 registering a MOM growth of 22% and the car registered positive YOY growth as compared to January 2021 with Swift sales up by 11% as 17,180 units were sold in the same month last year. Maruti Suzuki will launch the 2022 Swift CNG this year. The Maruti Suzuki Swift car price in India starts from Rs 5.9 lakhs and goes till Rs. 8.76 lakhs for the top model.
Maruti Suzuki Dzire
The Maruti Suzuki Dzire jumped 3 places in the top 10 selling cars list as it registered MOM sales growth of 40.7%, with 14,967 units sold in January this year compared to just 10,633 units in December 2021. However the sedan witnessed negative YOY de-growth of 1% as 15,125 units were sold in January 2021. Maruti Suzuki Dzire starting price is Rs. 6.09 lakhs.
Tata Nexon
The Tata Nexon continued to be the best-selling SUV in India as well as remaining a best seller from Tata Motors as well, and also remained the highest selling sub-compact SUV in January 2022, with 13,816 units sold last month as compared to just 8,225 units sold in January 2021 thus registering a huge 68% YOY growth. It also showed 7%, MOM growth over its December 2021 sales numbers when 12,899 units were sold. The Tata Nexon Ex-showroom prices range between Rs. 7.39 lakhs and goes upto Rs. 13.35 lakhs.
Maruti Suzuki Alto
The Maruti Alto was the highest selling car in India at one time but it has slid down the top 10 list in recent years with 12,342 units sold last month registering a MOM growth of 10%, up from the 11,170 units that were sold in December 2021 with the company readying the all-new Alto, which is scheduled for launch this year. The sales of Maruti Suzuki Alto registered YOY sales de-growth of 32.4% as 18,260 units were sold in January 2021. The Maruti Alto starting price is Rs. 3.25 lakhs.
Maruti Suzuki Ertiga
Another Maruti Suzuki car, the Ertiga, which remains the best-selling MPV in India registered positive YOY growth of 24% with 11,847 units sold against 9,565 during the same period in January 2021. It also registered minimal MOM growth of 7 units as compared to December 2021, when 11,840 units were sold that month. The Maruti Ertiga prices starts from Rs. 8.11 lakhs and goes upto Rs. 10.84 lakhs for the Ertiga top model.
Kia Seltos
The Kia Seltos, again entered the top 10 selling cars with it registering sales of 11,483 units as compared to 9,869 units in January 2021 thus having a YOY sales growth of 16.3%. Kia is going to launch the 2022 Kia Seltos facelift in the coming months with test mules spied quite a few times, while the current base model Kia Seltos HTE prices starts from Rs. 9.95 lakhs, while the most expensive variant the, Kia Seltos X Line price is Rs. 18.19 lakhs.
Hyundai Venue
Hyundai Venue continues to be the only Hyundai model in the top 10 selling cars list in January 2022, as it registered, positive MOM sales growth of 9.8%, with 11,377 units sold last month against sales of just 10,360 units in December 2021. The Venue still registered a de-growth in YOY sales by 3.4% as 11,779 units were sold in January 2021.
Maruti Suzuki Eeco
The Maruti Suzuki Eeco continues to be an enigma, as this car continues to feature in the top 10 selling cars list every month despite having the least features and being the the only van capable to do so. The Eeco continues to be a crowd puller with 10,528 units sold last month as compared to 11,680 units in November 2020 registering negative YOY sales of 9.8%. Maruti has updated the Eeco last month with a passenger side airbag offered for the first time and has hiked its prices last month with now, the Maruti Suzuki Eeco price ranging between Rs. 4.53 lakhs to Rs. 5.89 lakhs.
Tata Punch
Tata Motors has had its best year ever in 2021 and last month it registered its highest ever monthly sales with a large part played by the latest success from the company, the Punch micro-SUV. The Punch made its entry into the top 10 list with sales of 10,027 units last month and looks to being a regular presence in this list. The company will also launch the Tata Punch CNG later this year which will definitely increase the sales of this small yet peppy car. The Tata Punch starting price is Rs. 5.65 lakhs.
