Tata Safari EV spotted on-road. Tata is looking to launch Safari EV in India and they have started the testing of the Safari EV.

Tata Safari EV testing starts in India: Shared features with Harrier

Tata Motors intends to extend its Indian product line with new vehicles such as SUVs and EVs. In addition, the automaker will provide generation changes and mid-life improvements to its existing models.

Nevertheless, the OEM is preparing to release new versions of the Harrier and Safari SUVs. While no official release date has been announced, the models are expected to be on sale in the following months. What's more, the carmaker has begun testing the Tata Safari electric SUV, which was recently seen on video with considerable camouflage.

The observed Tata Safari EV test mule appears to share certain design aspects with the Tata Harrier EV, which made its premiere at the 2023 Auto Expo. The latter is built on Tata's Gen 2 (Sigma) architecture, which is effectively a redesigned version of the OmegaArch platform. Its fuel tank space and flat floor have been significantly modified, making it lighter and more energy efficient than the original Omega platform.

Tata previously said that the Harrier EV will include AWD as well as vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging capabilities. It is projected to have a battery capacity of roughly 60kWh and a range of 400-500km (in real world conditions).

The redesigned blanked-off grille, modified front bumper, darkened housing surrounding headlamp clusters, altered central air intake with a blanked-off panel, and new geometric creases distinguish the electric SUV idea.

Other notable features were EV logos on the fenders and flat door handles, as well as a reworked taillamp assembly with a new LED light strip covering the width of the tailgate. All of the aforementioned qualities are anticipated to be shared by the Tata Safari electric SUV and the Harrier EV.

Tata stated that the production-ready electric Harrier will hit the market next year. The Safari EV will most likely be accompanied by its junior EV sister.
