Tata Nexon is one of the finest products in the compact SUV segment and has a huge fan following. It received an impressive sales spike in March 2021 with 422% year on year growth making it the best selling compact SUV in India.A total of 8683 units of Tata Nexon have been sold in March 2021. It’s a record for the brand for selling the SUV in such a big number since its launch. However, Tata Nexon never scored in the top 3 of its segment. This time it grabbed the 3rd position leaving Kia Sonet behind.
Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is the current best selling SUV with 11,274 units followed by Hyundai Venue with 10,722 units. With 8498 units being sold in April 2021, Kia Sonet became the 4th position grabber, leaving the 3rd space vacant for Tata Nexon.Tata Nexon is a brilliantly built SUV in the entry level segment. It is the first one to get a 5-star safety rating for adults and 3 star safety rating for child occupants from Global NCAP It has a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine with 120PS of power and 170Nm of torque. The diesel engine powering this SUV is a 1.5-litre unit that churns out 110PS of power and 260Nm of torque. Both engines are robust and come mated with 6 speed manual and 6-speed AMT transmissions. Tata Nexon also gets an electric variant which is also hugely popular among the Ev buyers. The Tata Nexon EV is powered by a 30.2kWh battery pack powering the permanent magnet type synchronous motor. Together, they generate a power output of 129PS and torque worth 240Nm. The ARAI claims it to be delivering 312km, but in a real world scenario you may achieve the next 200km milestone quite easily. There is no doubt that Tata Nexon is brilliantly built and comes with everything that a compact SUV buyer would expect from an SUV. However, Tata’s service is still not at par with other South Korean and Indo-Japanese manufacturers which is a big reason for the vehicle not achieving 1st position.
