Suzuki has once again captivated off-road enthusiasts by unveiling the Jimny Offroad Edition at the 2024 Thailand International Motor Show.
The Jimny Offroad Edition takes the standard model’s ruggedness to a new level. It features a redesigned grille, sturdier bumpers, custom mud flaps, and distinct decals that highlight its adventurous spirit. The vehicle also sports exclusive Offroad badging and comes in a variety of mono-tone and two-tone color schemes, such as Solid Jungle Green and Kinetic Yellow with a black roof.
The compact SUV continues to use Suzuki’s part-time 4WD system, ensuring it can tackle harsh terrains and tight urban spaces alike. Its compact dimensions, reliable drivetrain, and lightweight build make it a favorite for enthusiasts looking for versatility in an off-roader.
The Suzuki Jimny enjoys a cult following in India, especially after the launch of the five-door version earlier this year. With the Offroad Edition showcasing an even bolder design, the question on every Indian fan's mind is whether this special variant will make its way to the country.
While Suzuki has yet to confirm its plans for the Indian market, the growing appetite for off-road vehicles in India—highlighted by the popularity of the Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha—makes it a possibility. The Offroad Edition’s unique appeal could position it as a niche offering for adventure enthusiasts in India, provided Suzuki finds a way to price it competitively.
In Thailand, the Jimny Offroad Edition is priced at approximately 1.76 million baht (₹41 lakh), making it a premium offering. If launched in India, it would face stiff competition from locally produced off-roaders like the Thar, which offers similar capabilities at a more affordable price point.
For now, Suzuki India remains tight-lipped about bringing the Offroad Edition to Indian shores. However, given the increasing demand for lifestyle SUVs and the Jimny’s strong fan base in India, an official announcement could be on the horizon.
Until then, Indian off-road enthusiasts can only hope to see this rugged and stylish 4x4 conquering the country’s diverse terrains in the near future.
