Skoda's upcoming sub-compact SUV, launching in 2025, will rival Brezza and Nexon, featuring sharp LED lights and advanced design elements.
Skoda Auto India has released a new teaser sketch of its upcoming sub-compact SUV, set to launch in 2025. This is the second teaser from the carmaker, revealing the rear section of the SUV. The Czech auto giant has now provided two teaser images, giving a sneak peek of the SUV's design. This new model will mark Skoda's entry into the sub-compact SUV segment in India, which is currently led by popular models like Maruti Suzuki Brezza and Tata Nexon.
The latest teaser shows the SUV will have sharp LED taillights and a thick rear bumper. An earlier teaser revealed sleek LED headlights. The sketches also indicate that the SUV will feature roof rails. However, the final design may change slightly in the production version. Skoda is currently testing the SUV, and the car's name has not yet been finalized.
Recent spy shots suggest that the new Skoda SUV will have a taillight design similar to the Kushaq SUV. At the front, it might feature a split headlight setup with LED DRL strips above. The traditional Skoda grille design will be retained, and the SUV will likely sit on alloy wheels, possibly 15 inches in size.
Platform and Engine: The new SUV will use the same platform and engine as the Kushaq. It will be powered by a 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine, producing 113 bhp and 178 Nm of peak torque. The engine will be paired with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
Design Elements: Expect sharp LED taillights, sleek LED headlights, roof rails, and traditional Skoda grille design.
Market Positioning: This model will join Skoda's SUV lineup in India, alongside the Kushaq and Kodiaq. Skoda developed the Kushaq specifically for Indian customers, and the new SUV will follow this strategy.
Skoda plans to increase its production capacity for this new model. The carmaker aims to sell around one lakh units of the new SUV in a single year, which is double the combined sales of the Kushaq and Slavia models over two years.
This upcoming sub-compact SUV from Skoda is set to be a strong contender in the Indian market, challenging established models like the Maruti Suzuki Brezza and Tata Nexon.
