The River Indie gets a few updates for 2025, including a chain drive system, reverse button, and two new color choices. Priced at ₹1.43 lakh, it now competes with leading electric scooters like the TVS iQube and Ola S1 Pro.

River Indie: Fresh Updates for 2025 and a New Price Tag of ₹1.43 Lacs

River Electric, the Bengaluru-based e-scooter startup, has introduced some updates to their scooter Indie, along with a price revision. Now costing ₹1.43 lakh, Indie has also received a few enhancements for 2025, including two fresh color options. Let's have a look at the latest updates.

Latest Changes

Indie now features a dedicated reverse button and has upgraded from a belt to a chain final drive. Additionally, it comes in two new colors: grey and white.

Mechanical Overhaul

The most significant mechanical update is the switch to a chain final drive, making the Indie the only e-scooter in India with this feature. This change aims to enhance durability and performance, distinguishing it from other e-scooters that use belt drives, swingarm-mounted motors, or hub motors.

New Features and Colors

River has added a dedicated reverse button to the Indie, a move driven by user suggestions. This feature is designed to make handling and reversing the scooter effortlessly. The new color options, grey and white, providing more choices for buyers.

Sales and Expansion Plans

Since its launch, River has sold over 3,000 units of the Indie. To further its reach, the company plans to open new showrooms across various cities, including Coimbatore, Vizag, Hubli, Cochin, Belgaum, Vellore, Mysore, and Uppal within the next two months. By March 2025, River aims to have 25 showrooms across India.

Price Increase

The price of the River Indie has increased by ₹18,000 from its initial launch price, now standing at ₹1.43 lacs. This new pricing places the Indie in direct competition with well-established models such as the TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak 3201, Ather Rizta, and Ola S1 Pro.

With these upgrades and enhancements, River Indie is set to attract a wide range of buyers in the competitive electric scooter market in India.
