The Honda N-Box Joy is a compact MPV rivaling the Suzuki Spacia Gear and Daihatsu Tanto FunCross, offering 4WD, water-repellent upholstery, and customizable camping accessories.
Honda has unveiled the N-Box Joy, a compact MPV in Japan's growing Kei car segment. Designed with unique aesthetic and practical features, the N-Box Joy is positioned as a lifestyle vehicle for adventure seekers. Launched at JPY 1,844,700 (around ₹10.7 lakh), the N-Box Joy’s compact size and camper-friendly features make it a perfect choice for adventure lovers. Its primary competitors are Suzuki's Spacia Gear and Hustler Tough Wild, Daihatsu’s Tanto FunCross, and Mitsubishi’s Delica Mini.
Building on the third-generation N-Box, the Joy variant features unique design cues. It sports a dedicated front bumper with a black grille, additional body cladding, and retro-style wheels for a rugged appearance. Customers can personalise their N-Box Joy with accessories like auxiliary LED lights, decals, a roof rack, spoiler, and various wheel options.
Inside, the N-Box Joy features water-repellent upholstery and flat-folding rear seats, allowing enough space to convert the vehicle into a small bed area. This compact MPV also supports a variety of camper-friendly features such as hooks, nets, foldable tables, awnings, and chairs. Sliding doors offer easy access, while the rest of the interior includes standard features like a 9-inch infotainment screen.
The Honda N-Box Joy is powered by a 658cc 3-cylinder engine available in two versions: a naturally aspirated engine producing 58 bhp, and a turbocharged version generating 64 bhp. Both engines are paired with a CVT gearbox, and buyers have the option of choosing between 2WD and 4WD configurations.
In Japan, unlike many SUV models in India which come with a FWD layout, small Kei cars like the N-Box Joy often feature 4WD capabilities. This feature enhances the vehicle's off-road potential, aligning it with its lifestyle-oriented design.
The Honda N-Box Joy is a compact yet spacious MPV. Now in its third generation, the N-Box measures 3,395 mm in length, 1,475 mm in width, and up to 1,815 mm in height, with a generous 2,520 mm wheelbase. These dimensions are similar to the Maruti WagonR sold in India. True to its name, the N-Box has a boxy design that maximises interior space.
