Mercedes EQG in line for a debut in September this Year

Mercedes EQG – Expected Design

Though details are not yet out, one expects the EQG to have an upright and boxy stance that its combustion-engine counterpart has. However, there could be a few tweaks to the design to tune with the other EQ models. The Mercedes EQG could have a high ground clearance similar to other G-Class vehicles. Other features might include short overhangs, excellent approach and departure angles, and innovative drive modes to enhance its off-road driving capabilities.

Mercedes EQG – Likely Powertrain

Unconfirmed reports say that the Mercedes EQG could be available in two variants, EQG 560 and EQG 580, with the EQG 580 boasting of a similar electric powertrain to the EQS 580 Sedan. Hence, it could feature a 108 kWh battery with electric motors capable of delivering 523 hp power and 856 Nm torque. However, Positioning-wise, the EQG 560 could be below the EQG 580.

Mercedes’ Electric plans for the Indian market

While Mercedes had already launched the EQC in India in 2020, it expects to introduce the EQS sedan sometime in 2022. Besides, there are plans to assemble EQ models in India.

It could take some time for the EQG to make it to the Indian roads because of the lack of proper infrastructure. However, the petrol-powered Mercedes AMG G63 and the diesel-based Mercedes G 350D 4MATIC are already available in India.
