Maruti Suzuki- India’s largest car maker has quite a few new car launches planned in 2022. The car maker has had no new car launches in the past 2 years and with the competition getting strong coupled with the slowdown in sales due to the pandemic, Maruti Suzuki has a slew of car launches planned for 2022 with completely new models as well as facelifts for certain existing but tiring old models.
Here we take a look at the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Cars in 2022:
Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza
The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza continues to bring in the sales numbers for Maruti but it is now facing stiff competition from the rivals which have upgraded and are now more value for money buys, also considering the fact that the Vitara Brezza received a mid-life facelift in 2020 which was required but apart from the switch from diesel to petrol and a few cosmetic updates in the front, everything else was retained.
Now, seeing that the competition is offering feature rich cars compared to its Brezza, Maruti Suzuki is ready to launch the all-new Brezza in 2022 which will be a new generation and a huge leap from the current model. The spy-shots of the New Brezza are doing the rounds on the internet and by the looks of it we can easily tell that Maruti is going all out with it. First and fore-most the new Vitara Brezza may drop the Vitara moniker from its name going by the spy-shots. The car will continue to carry the boxy, SUV stance that is liked in the current model, the front will sport a new grill which neatly integrates in the headlamps which do have a new set of LED DRLs, also the fog lamp housing is new with black cladding on the bumper, there will be new alloy designs and bigger plastic cladding on the sides, coming to the rear will have new split tail lamp design with the Brezza name across the boot. A new larger integrated roof spoiler with shark fin antenna and functional roof rails will be offered too.
For the first time Maruti will offer sun-roof in its car with the new Brezza coming with a sun-roof for the top-spec models. The same story continues in the inside too with an all-new bigger and free-standing infotainment screen, new dashboard layout and a new instrument cluster with a bigger and colourful MID. The spy-shots also revealed a new steering wheel design like the one found in the Swift and paddle shifters on offer too. Going by all this info we can clearly assume that the new Brezza will be more premium and thus will become more-pricey with the expected price to between INR 8-13 lakhs.
Maruti Suzuki Jimny
One of the highly anticipated launch of next year is the Maruti Suzuki Jimny, which will be offered in 5-door version and Maruti is testing it for the launch next year. The two-door version of the Jimny are already exported overseas by Maruti and with the 5-door version being a more sensible offering for the Indian market we can see it being offered as a direct rival to the Mahindra Thar.
The Jimny will be offered with the same engine as the Vitara Brezza and a turbo petrol version is also in the news. The Jimny is a very popular model for Suzuki overseas due to it being a budget 4X4 off-roader which is nice to drive in the city traffic too. The Jimny can be an option for those looking to buy a lifestyle SUV in a budget but only have the Mahindra Thar as an option for which there is a huge waiting period of nearly a year with Mahindra struggling to complete the deliveries due to the chip shortage. Prices for the Jimny may range from INR 10-14 lakhs.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno
Maruti Suzuki is readying another of its popular car the Baleno for launch with major changes planned for it. The spy-shots of the new Baleno are also doing the rounds on the internet with new front and rear design seen. The new Baleno now appears wider from the front with new LED DRLs and new headlamp design. The grill is now wider and squarish in shape with a new design for the front bumper and fog lights. Over-all the front is more squarish which makes it look wider and mature then the earlier curvy design.
The same thing goes on in the rear with the profile more-wider with new L-shaped tail lamp design and a new design for the bumper too but the major changes are to be seen in the interiors with a free standing, larger touchscreen infotainment unit offering wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. A new instrument cluster with a new digital MID and new connected car features are expected with the material quality to be improved too while the steering will be borrowed from the Swift making the cabin feel fresh and modern.
The engine will remain un-changed, with the 1.2L petrol unit continuing to service, also the new Maruti Suzuki Baleno will be priced higher than the current version.
Maruti Suzuki Alto
Maruti Alto, the smallest car from Maruti’s stable has also runs its course in the current iteration and it is due for a complete overhaul next year with a generational change planned which will totally change the looks of this small family mover. The new generation Alto will be longer, wider and taller with a more SUV-ish stance like the S-Presso with a demand for SUVs at an all-time high in India.

The all new Maruti Suzuki Alto will see exterior styling changed along with a slew of features offered in the inside too. The front will have a new set of sleeker looking headlights with a large air dam, while on the rear the taillights will be smaller and roundish in shape. On the features front the new Alto will be offered with a new, larger touchscreen infotainment unit, updated upholstery and upgraded switches and climate controls. On the safety front the new Alto will be offered with dual-airbags, Rear parking camera with sensors. The new Alto might be offered with the 1.0L DJ engine currently seen on the new Celerio. Prices for the new Alto will rise from the current gen and are expected to range between INR 3.30-4.9 lakhs.
Maruti Suzuki XL6
The Maruti Suzuki XL6 is another of Maruti car, which is to get a new model next year. The XL6 was launched in 2019, as a premium offering over the Maruti Ertiga, in the 6,7-seater space. The XL6 is sold exclusively through the NEXA showrooms and offer a rugged look compared to the Ertiga with bold front end with larger headlight with prominent DRLs, chunky body cladding, a mild-hybrid system among other things.
According to the spy-shots of the test mule we can clearly see that the new XL6 will get a bolder and wider front grill with a single chrome bar through the centre. The front bumper will also be redesigned with new fog lamp housing as well as a new set of alloy wheel design. The interior might feature new upholstery while a sun-roof addition will be nice but is not confirmed yet by Maruti Suzuki.
Since its launch the XL6 along with the Ertiga have been bringing good sales numbers for Maruti and reigning supreme in the MPV segment for the company. With this new model on the horizon expect this charge to continue from the company in the near future.
