Maruti Jimny 3-door is already being manufactured in India for the export market. The 5-door version will have a longer wheelbase yet same engine.
Maruti Suzuki has finally made up their mind to introduce their much-awaited Jimny SUV to Indian roads. This vehicle will be here in its 5-door version as the company finds no reason to launch the existing 3-door version in India which is one of the hyped products overseas.
Suzuki is already manufacturing the 3-door version of Jimny in India for international markets. The 5-door version will have 300mm of extra length than the existing vehicle despite falling within the sub-4-meter of overall length.
Unfortunately, it won’t be able to enjoy the lower excise duties as it’ll be utilising a 1.5-litre engine under the hood. This is the tried and tested engine from the brand and is being used by Ertiga, Vitara Brezza, XL6, and Ciaz. It generates a peak power of 102PS with 138 Nm of torque.in terms of transmission, Jimny may have a 5-speed manual and 4-speed torque converter automatic.

Maruti Jimny will come with a 4WD system and hence, despite its smaller size, it’ll compete with Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha as there is no direct rivalry for it. The vehicle will have a size close to the biggest hatchback from the stable though it may have some wise utilization of space to accommodate as many people and luggage for a good weekend trip to the mountains.
Maruti Suzuki Jimny prices are yet to be announced. The confirmation of arrival has been given to dealers by the manufacturers during a recent summit. Jimny launch date in India is also something that is still not decided. More on this will be communicated soon. So stay tuned.
