Maruti Suzuki is planning to extend its SUV product lineup with the introduction of the all-new Fronx crossover and Jimny 5-door off-road SUV. Both vehicles debuted for the first time in public at the Delhi Auto Expo 2023.
The Maruti Jimny garnered over 9,000 pre-orders in just 10 days, while the Maruti Fronx earned over 2,500 bookings. Here are the variants, feature, and engine specifications for the impending new Maruti SUVs.
The new Maruti crossover, which is based on the Heartect monocoque platform, will be available in five trim levels: Sigma, Delta, Delta+, Zeta, and Alpha.
The model selection will include two petrol engine options: a 1.0L Booster jet and a 1.2L K-series normally aspirated powerplant. The Booster jet motor is touted to produce 100bhp and 147.6Nm of torque.
It is available with a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic (with paddle shifters) transmission. The 1.2L petrol engine produces a maximum of 90bhp and 113Nm of torque.
It has a 7.0-inch touchscreen SmartPlay Pro infotainment system with wireless smartphone connectivity, a 4-speaker sound system, keyless enter and go, hill hold assist, reverse parking sensors, an electronic stability programme, and other amenities.
Note: The Maruti Fronx will be available for purchase in February.
The all-new Maruti Jimny 2023 is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated new car releases of the year. Prices are expected to be released in May 2023.
The Jimny is a compact SUV with a 104bhp, 1.5L K15B petrol engine. It comes fitted with an AllGrip Pro 4X4 powertrain system with low-range transfer gear.
Both manual and automatic transmissions will be available. The vehicle will be introduced as a lifestyle off-road SUV with two trim levels - Zeta and Alpha - and seven colour options (including two dual-tone shades).
The Maruti Jimny has a 9.0-inch touchscreen SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, 6 airbags, ESP, ABS with EBD, a rear view camera, and hill descent control as standard equipment.
