In a strategic move, Maruti Suzuki has reintroduced its mild Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki (SHVS) technology in selected variants of the popular Brezza SUV. The mild Hybrid Vehicles by Suzuki (SHVS) technology has made its return in the ZXi and ZXi+ variants of the Maruti Brezza, showcasing a notable increase in mileage. The fuel efficiency for these manual versions has improved by 2.51kmpl, soaring from 17.38kmpl to an impressive 19.89kmpl. This enhancement places the Brezza ahead in the fuel efficiency race compared to its competitors.
Powering the Brezza is a robust 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, NA petrol engine delivering 102bhp and 137 Nm of torque. The CNG variant, slightly detuned, produces 87bhp and 121 Nm of torque. Transmission options include a five-speed manual and a six-speed automatic unit, catering to diverse preferences.
The prices for the updated ZXi and ZXi+ variants remain consistent with the previous versions, but a broader price revision across the model range is anticipated later this month. The Brezza's pricing now starts at Rs. 8.29 lakh (ex-showroom).
Maruti Suzuki has taken another step by reintroducing the mild-hybrid technology in the manual versions of the Brezza. Initially removed in July 2023, the mild-hybrid tech is now back, adding fuel efficiency to the ZXI and ZXI+ manual trims, with prices starting at Rs 11.05 lakh.
With the reintroduction of the mild-hybrid tech, the Maruti Brezza now outperforms its rivals in terms of fuel efficiency, particularly surpassing the Kia Sonet in the mild-hybrid form. The Maruti Fronx retains its position as the most fuel-efficient compact SUV, while the Tata Nexon trails behind.
