Mahindra is gearing up to make a significant impact on the electric vehicle (EV) market with its born-electric range of SUVs, expected to launch in 2025. These SUVs have been frequently spotted undergoing road tests in recent months. The latest spy shots, credited to automotive enthusiast Pranav Nemade, suggest that the XUV.e8 might be the first to debut next year. The XUV.e8 is essentially the electric version of the popular XUV700 but is not just a simple conversion from an internal combustion engine (ICE) to an electric vehicle (EV). Instead, the XUV.e8, along with other upcoming electric SUVs from Mahindra, is built on an entirely new INGLO platform. This born-electric platform promises significant improvements in performance, safety, technology, and comfort.
Key highlights of the INGLO platform include
The XUV.e9, on the other hand, is the coupe version of the XUV.e8, featuring a more eye-catching road presence due to its sleek coupe profile. While there are similarities in design between the two, such as the closed-off grille and triangular headlamp housings, the XUV.e9 distinguishes itself with a sportier and more aggressive stance.
Both the XUV.e8 and XUV.e9 share some design elements, but there are key differences as well. The full-width LED daytime running lights (DRLs) have slight variations between the two models, but the overall look and feel remain largely consistent. The bumper sections of both SUVs share the same basic shape, though their design elements are distinct.
At the rear, the XUV.e8 borrows its tail lamps from the ICE-powered XUV700, but with a new bumper and redesigned tailgate. The XUV.e9, however, has a sportier rear profile, featuring a full-width LED light bar and a more prominent tailgate. Its bumper is also more robust, complementing its aggressive design.
Inside, both the XUV.e8 and XUV.e9 will feature a panoramic triple-screen dashboard. This setup includes an instrument console, a touchscreen infotainment system, and a third screen dedicated exclusively to the front passenger. This triple-screen layout enhances the overall cockpit experience, providing both the driver and the front passenger with an immersive and high-tech environment.
Key interior features
As Mahindra prepares to launch its born-electric range of SUVs, the XUV700 Electric SUV (XUV.e8) and Coupe (XUV.e9) are already making waves with their bold designs and advanced features. With their debut anticipated in 2025, these models are set to redefine performance, safety, and technology in the EV market.
