Mumbai witnessed a dramatic incident on Wednesday night when a fire broke out inside a moving Lamborghini on the city’s newly inaugurated Coastal Road. The incident occurred at approximately 10:20 PM, according to officials. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
A fire brigade official confirmed that a fire engine was promptly dispatched to the scene and the blaze was brought under control within 45 minutes. However, details about the number of occupants in the car and the cause of the fire remain unclear as of now.
Videos of the incident have surfaced online, capturing the shocking moments. One clip, shared by business tycoon and automobile enthusiast Gautam Singhania, shows the aftermath of the blaze, with the luxury vehicle severely damaged. Another video depicts flames erupting within the cabin of the orange-coloured Lamborghini Revuelto, bearing a Gujarat registration number, as a man attempts to extinguish the fire.
This incident has raised concerns about the safety of high-performance vehicles, especially in urban settings. Experts have speculated that such fires can result from a variety of factors, including mechanical failures, overheating, or electrical malfunctions, but an official investigation is awaited to determine the exact cause.
The Coastal Road, a new addition to Mumbai’s infrastructure, has quickly become a hotspot for automotive enthusiasts looking to test their vehicles on its smooth stretches. However, this incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential risks involved in operating high-performance vehicles.
