Kia Recalls 4,358 Seltos SUVs in India Due to Electronic Oil Pump Controller Concerns

Key Highlights

  • Kia recalls 4,358 Seltos SUVs in India
  • Models affected: 1.5L NA petrol with CVT, manufactured between Feb 28 to July 13, 2023
  • Voluntary recall to address potential electronic oil pump controller issue
  • Free replacement for affected units
  • Seltos prices range from Rs. 10.90 lakh to Rs. 20.30 lakh (ex-showroom)

Kia India has initiated a voluntary recall for its popular Seltos SUV in the Indian market. The recall affects 4,358 units of the 1.5-litre NA petrol Seltos equipped with CVT transmission. The specific models were manufactured between February 28 and July 13, 2023. The reason behind the recall is to address a potential error in the electronic oil pump controller, which has the potential to impact the performance of the SUV, particularly in the specified transmission variant.

Free Replacement for Affected Units

Kia will proactively reach out to the owners of the affected Seltos units and provide a free replacement for the faulty part. The company aims to ensure the safety and optimal performance of the recalled vehicles.

Seltos Pricing and Variants

The Seltos, positioned as a direct competitor to the Hyundai Creta, is available in seven variants: HTE, HTK, HTK Plus, HTX, HTX Plus, GTX Plus, and X-Line. These variants cover both petrol and diesel powertrain options. The SUV's prices range from Rs. 10.90 lakh to Rs. 20.30 lakh (ex-showroom).

Facelifted Seltos Hits Milestone

In a separate development, the recently facelifted Kia Seltos has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing the one lakh booking mark in India. Launched in July 2023, the SUV has been consistently securing an average monthly booking of 13,500 units. Notably, 80 percent of the buyers opt for the top-spec variants, showcasing the popularity of the feature-rich model in the Indian market.

CarBike360 Says

Kia's proactive recall of over 4,300 Seltos units in India reflects the company's commitment to customer safety. The voluntary recall, addressing an electronic oil pump controller issue, is accompanied by a free replacement for affected vehicles. Meanwhile, the Seltos continues its success, recently surpassing one lakh bookings after its facelift in July 2023.
