JSW MG Motor India Unveils Groundbreaking EV Ecosystem Initiatives at DriEV.Bharat

MG Motor India has announced several new software-based services at the DriEV.Bharat event, to shape India's electric vehicle future. Key announcements included the launch of the eHUB app and multiple initiatives to support the growing EV ecosystem. These efforts are intended to make living with an electric vehicle more convenient for Indian consumers. The DriEV.Bharat event showcased MG Motor's commitment to enhancing the EV experience through innovative technology and strategic partnerships.

To support the upcoming release of the Windsor EV, MG Motor is implementing various initiatives to strengthen India's electric vehicle infrastructure. Notably, 40% of the MG's sales are from electric models namely the ZS EV and Comet EV. Hence, the company is planning to set up 1,000 community chargers across the country. MG Motor has partnered with over 1,500 start-ups and 50 colleges to promote EV education and skill development.

A unified platform for locating and reserving charging stations, integrating multiple national networks. The eHUB app consolidates various EV charging apps into a single platform. This integration simplifies the charging process by providing real-time information on charging station locations, availability, and pricing. Users can reserve charging stations and plan their trips with recommended charging points along the way. The app, available in eleven languages, streamlines the electric vehicle charging experience, making it more convenient and accessible for users.

  • Project REVIVE: Giving EV Batteries a Second Life

A collaboration with TERI, Lohum, and BatX to repurpose EV batteries for renewable energy storage systems. This initiative focuses on extending the life of EV batteries beyond automotive use, promoting a circular economy. By utilizing these batteries as energy storage systems for community applications, Project REVIVE supports sustainable practices and helps reduce the environmental impact of battery disposal.

  • EVPEDIA: India’s First EV Education Platform

An educational platform offering comprehensive information on EV technology, benefits, costs, and maintenance. EVPEDIA aims to debunk myths and foster informed decisions among potential EV buyers. The platform provides tools like cost-of-ownership calculators, a repository of government policies, and access to publications and research papers. An AI-powered chatbot, 'eVir,' offers users quick and easy answers to their EV-related questions, making the EV adoption journey smoother and more accessible.

  • Home-2-Car Platform

The Home-2-Car platform allows customers with Jio Fiber set-top box connections on their TVs to check various car parameters such as car health, charging status, lock/unlock status, turn on/off AC, and even schedule a service. This integration provides a seamless connection between the user’s home and their vehicle, enhancing the convenience and functionality of owning an EV.

MG-Jio Innovative Connectivity Platform (MG-Jio ICP)

MG Motor also unveiled the MG-Jio Innovative Connectivity Platform (MG-Jio ICP) at the DriEV.Bharat event. This platform, developed in partnership with Reliance Jio, will debut in the upcoming Windsor EV and subsequently in other MG models. MG-Jio ICP offers a range of in-car entertainment and connectivity options, including gaming, streaming services, and learning activities through the MG App Store.

MG-Jio ICP supports voice commands in multiple Indian languages, enhancing the user experience with features like the Hello Jio AI voice assistant system. Additionally, the Home-2-Car functionality allows users to control various aspects of their vehicle remotely, providing added convenience and integration with their smart home systems.

Windsor EV

The upcoming MG Windsor EV, expected to launch soon, is a crossover utility vehicle inspired by the Wuling Cloud EV from Indonesia. Positioned below the ZS EV in the Indian market, the Windsor EV will compete with models like the Nexon.ev and Mahindra XUV400. The Windsor is expected to be priced under Rs 20 lakh and offer a range of up to 500 kilometres with battery options of 37kWh and 50kWh.
