Hyundai has not officially revealed the reasons for the price hike of the Exter, but it could be due to the increase in input costs and high demand for the micro-SUV. The Exter has received over 24,000 bookings within just 10 days of its launch. The waiting period for some variants has stretched up to one year.
The Exter is powered by a 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 82bhp and 114Nm of torque. It is available with a five-speed manual or a five-speed AMT gearbox. There is also a CNG-compatible version that makes 67bhp and 95Nm of torque with a five-speed manual gearbox only.
The Exter comes with features such as a digital instrument cluster, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a wireless charger, a dashcam, and a keyless entry. It also has safety features such as six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, VSM, HSA, and an emergency stop signal.
The Exter competes with the likes of the Tata Punch and the Citroen C3 in the Indian market.
