Harley-Davidson expands its Pan America lineup with the new ST variant, designed for long-distance road touring. Featuring 17-inch cast aluminium wheels, reduced suspension travel, and a 1,252cc engine producing 150bhp.
Harley-Davidson has broadened its adventure-touring portfolio by introducing the Pan America ST, a model designed specifically for riders who prioritise long-distance road travel over off-road exploration. This latest addition to the Pan America family retains the essence of the adventure segment while incorporating features that enhance its on-road capabilities.
To make the Pan America ST more road-friendly, Harley-Davidson has equipped it with a set of 17-inch cast aluminium wheels, a significant departure from the larger spoke wheels found on its off-road-orientated siblings. These wheels are wrapped in Michelin Scorcher Sport tyres, sized 120/70 at the front and 180/55 at the rear, which promise improved grip and handling on paved surfaces. In line with its road-focused intent, the suspension travel at both ends has been reduced for better stability and cornering precision. However, it still retains electronically adjustable preload on both sides, along with manual compression and rebound damping, ensuring a balance between comfort and performance.
At the heart of the Pan America ST is Harley-Davidson’s proven 1,252cc, twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled Revolution Max engine, delivering approximately 150bhp at 8,750rpm and 128Nm of peak torque at 6,750rpm. This high-performance powertrain is complemented by an advanced electronics package, featuring lean-sensitive traction control, cornering ABS, an electronically linked braking system, hill hold control, cruise control, engine braking control, and multiple riding modes. Riders can choose from five pre-programmed riding modes or configure their own with three customisable settings, allowing for a tailored riding experience.
Positioned above the standard Pan America but below the Pan America Special and CVO models, the ST variant comes at a premium price. Hero MotoCorp, Harley-Davidson’s partner in India, is set to introduce the Pan America ST to the Indian market later this year. However, given its premium positioning and advanced features, it will be a high-end offering, catering to a niche segment of touring enthusiasts.
With this new addition, Harley-Davidson aims to strengthen its foothold in the adventure-touring space, offering a more road-biased alternative for riders who seek long-haul comfort and superior on-road performance without compromising on the brand’s signature character.
