Harley Davidson bikes are popular in India among riders who seek a premium, high-performance motorcycle experience. The iconic brand's reputation and unique styling appeal to many Indian motorcycle enthusiasts.
New bikes by Harley davidson
The introduction of the Harley-Davidson X500 in China follows the launch of the X350 and a sneak peek of the HD-4XX model for the Indian market.
Currently, the X350 and X500 are tailored to the Chinese market, but are anticipated to be distributed to other regions in due course. These two models are produced by the QJ motorcycle brand in China.
In order to improve its market reach, Harley-Davidson has entered into strategic collaborations with domestic manufacturers. For the Chinese market, the company has joined forces with QJ, while for the Indian market, it has partnered with Hero MotoCorp.
Harley davidson X500
Despite its American aesthetics, the Harley-Davidson X500 is essentially a Benelli Leoncino 500, which is currently owned by QJ.
The creation of the Harley X500 involved a significant collaboration between QJ and Harley-Davidson to produce a comprehensive badge engineering effort.
A mere glance at the specifications reveals that both the Harley-Davidson X500 and the Benelli Leoncino 500 share numerous components.
When it comes to specifications, it's worth noting that the X500 and Leoncino 500 share identical 500cc parallel twin engines, each equipped with a DOHC setup, 4V per cylinder, and a liquid-cooled architecture.
These engines can produce 46.8 bhp of power at 8500 RPM and 46 Nm of torque at 6000 RPM. Although there are minor variations in dimensions, lean angles, and wheelbase.
Harley davidson X500 : Features
The majority of the components on the Harley-Davidson X500 are comparable to those on the Leoncino 500. For instance, the X500 features 50mm USD front forks with 124 mm travel, along with rebound adjustment support.
Its flatter rear subframe differs from that of the Leoncino 500, but both are suspended by the same mono-shock unit with 112 mm travel, and both have preload and rebound adjustments.
The engine crankcase is indistinguishable, but it is branded with the Harley-Davidson name. The fuel tank shape is almost identical to the Leoncino 500, with a capacity of 13L of fuel.
Likewise, the alloy wheels, dual barrel exhaust canister, and dual 320 mm rotors with 4-piston caliper front and single 260 mm rotor with single-piston caliper rear brake setup are also the same. The X500 also has switchable dual-channel ABS.
The X500 features a distinct circular LED headlight with glowing Harley-Davidson lettering and circular turn indicators that double as brake lights.
To provide an even more robust look, Harley-Davidson has equipped the X500 with Maxxis Supermaxx tires that are 120/70-R17 at the front and 160/60-R17 at the rear. A more extensive rubber could enhance its muscular appearance.
The X500 has a partially digital instrument console that appears modern. The footpegs are positioned centrally, which allows for a straight sitting posture and neutral stance.
All of these components are mounted on a trellis frame that appears the same as the one on the Leoncino 500. The wet weight of the Harley-Davidson X500 is 208 kg.
