It was reported back in January that Ford and Mahindra JV is now cancelled and both the brands will work independently. With this JV break, both the brands decided to work together on Ford C-SUV which will be based on the all new Mahindra XUV500 platform, but that also seems to be cancelled.Ford C-SUV.pngThere was a big question mark on Ford’s fans that if the Ecosport will be getting any better with Mahindra’s TGDi engine. Also, the Ford’s C-SUV that was about to launch with Mahindra’s 2.0-litre petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engines are also axed. The reason behind calling off the JV could be the shortage of semiconductor and basic supplies and the rising demand of vehicles in the brand’s own territory. The exact reason for this step is still unknown and we are yet to hear a concrete reason from the brand representatives. All new 2021 Mahindra XUV500 is set to be launched in the coming June, while the Mahindra Scorpio launch date may fall in the first quarter of 2022. Mahindra is currently enjoying the overwhelming response of Thar which was introduced last year and is currently carrying a waiting period as long as 10 months for diesel engine variants. With that said, Mahindra will focus more on its own products. They are expecting a similar to Thar or even higher response from the new XUV500 and Scorpio. As we said, Ford Ecosport was expected to get Mahindra’s engine, it will continue with its very own 1.5-litre dragon petrol and 1.5-litre TDCi diesel engines. Both these engines are benchmarks in their segments and driver friendly. The New C-SUV from Ford will now be based on Ford Territory which is currently on sale in China. Ford will be using its Chennai and Sanand plants to roll out all its vehicles instead of Mahindra’s Chakan plant.Ford is currently working on a Hyundai Creta rival (Codenamed BX772) and a sub 4-meter compact SUV Code named BX774. These two SUVs will fill the huge gap Ford has to offer in the Indian market. With Ford's new lineup, will there be any impact on the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos sales chart? Do let us know your opinion in the comments.
